Not much more info on my step-dad
I talked with Mom when I got home from work. Harry has his colour back and she said his face was almost normal. Yesterday she told me he had no facial distortion. So (sorry Mom) who knows what the truth is. My aunt might be more direct/honest with me (Mom has a tendency to downplay everything), but I've not had a chance to talk with her.
Anyway, the bottom line is that he'll be in the hospital for 2 - 3 weeks and then they'll look at what he needs for rehab--and whether that's done in-home or in another facility. I told Mom that I'll be very disappointed if he goes home at all at this point. I love Harry dearly, he was there for me in many ways when my own dad was not, back in my early- to mid-twenties, but I think he's past the point where Mom can care for him in their home and I think he needs to be in a care facility--as much as I do not wish that on anyone, let alone anyone I care about. But it's not realistic for Mom to care for him any longer, unless he recovers to the point that he can move about on his own and tend to his own bodily needs, etc.
So we'll see what happens in a few weeks. And in the meantime, I sure hope Mom enjoys the time with her sister as much as possible.

In other things, I admit I'm exhausted. I had a workshop Tuesday afternoon, then the (almost) all-day staff session yesterday, and an all-morning meeting at the downtown hotel today. Who knew sorting out AV and food for a 3-day conference could involve so much energy, discussion and time. I've had little time for the work that's piling up on my desk (I'm entering my busiest time of year) and I'm feeling super-scattered and super-stressed. I have sticky notes on all the project files with their due dates (which seem to all be within a 2-week period), papers everywhere. It's overwhelming. Plus there's a slew of nitty gritty details to take care of for the conference itself. Next week we'll be visiting the facility at which we're hosting the big Tuesday night dinner and presentations. We've yet to buy gifts for the keynote speaker and presenters. There are registration packages to put together, etc., etc.. Both my bosses are "big picture" people and we, the little people, have to ensure that all the myriad details are taken care of. Thank goodness there are three of us working on this together; it definitely requires a team, even a mini-one.
I really hope I'm retired before we have to host this again (in 14 years). That's even if I manage to last that long in my current job/department, which is highly questionable.

So that's the crazy week. I did make a point of walking to the centre @ 6:30 this morning, to pick up my bus, so I was able to stop along the way to take pics. I had to smile, when I saw "Cat Lover's" post today -- she posted a pic of her neighbour's tree, and I was taking pics of the trees here on the way to the office! :-)
And a few bonus pics from last (?) week:
At least I got my fantasy life "Disney" moment, watching the birds and squirrels and taking snaps of the flowers. :-)
Peace.
Peace.

Hope that you feel less stressed too.
Breathe in and out it will soon be over!
Hugs!
I agree with you though, that is the best place for him to be. It is too much for your Mom to deal with

Love the photos, thanks for sharing!
