The cost of "freedom?"
That would be $16 plus tax per half-hour visit, with the pet-sitting company. :-)
The owner of the company sent one of her staff out yesterday. I'd heard from the references, both police constables, and both had nothing but wonderful things to say about her. She showed up a few minutes early, was with me for about a half an hour, met Nicki (Derry was outside and hid under the step, of course). She was professional, quiet and seemingly kind, and she said she actually has given Flovent to cats for a number of clients. (Which surprised me, as it's expensive, and it takes effort to train the cat, and I would think the average pet "owner" wouldn't be bothered.)
I've arranged for her to come back twice next week at Nicki's 6PM med time, on June 2 and 5, then again the following week on the 10th, on the 17th, and during the supper time on the 22nd and 23rd when we have our work conference dinners.
I sent a five-page document to the company owner this morning, with updated info on both cats (health, vet, food, etc.) and accompanying photos (where the boys get fed their kibble, where Nicki gets fed his canned, where Derry gets fed his canned, where Nicki sits for the Flovent, pics of them both).
I've not given this woman keys yet, but will do so after a few more visits, before she needs to come in on the 22nd. I need to have a set cut anyway, will do that this weekend.
So I didn't get any negative vibes from her, but I'll see how things go in June.
Gee, if this goes well (fingers crossed) maybe I could, I don't know, take the train to Ottawa for the day, go to a museum or art gallery. I haven't done that in what, a decade? More? It's so long I don't recall.
Peace.
Nice to see the irises in bloom now!

I think you have a real winner here! Go to Ottawa or anything and enjoy. The boys will enjoy the break too. MOL.
It's also been in mind that should I become ill (I'm fussing a bit over the upcoming MRI), I would need assistance with them.
Our Irises are blooming, too. Nice.
Our Irises are blooming, too. Nice.
$16 a half hour is pretty darn good money. Maybe we should both quit our jobs and become pet sitters!
Good luck with the upcoming MRI.
The irises are so pretty!
Kim, I'm so glad the visit with the potential pet sitter went well! Here's hoping the next few help you o feel even better about things. :)
Hugs!
