I'm gonna need a plan
So a few days ago I popped over to our computer store at lunch time and came back with a used Samsung Galaxy 3 cell phone, for $125 plus tax (and the $5 for the USB cable to charge it). Fortunately, the young guy at the store was able to use a little device
to snap out the SIM card in the old phone and pop it into the "new," so
that worked out well.
I currently have an account with Telus (for the old phone), always have paid $100 per year and never used it up, not even close. However, I can see that I'm going to need a real plan soon! (I also now see why smart phones are such time-wasters. LOL.)
I've since been stumbling along with it, as I don't have a clue about using these things, and have been pestering our summer student who happens to have the same phone. (Though he paid a lot more, a few years ago!)
Anyway, the bottom line is that I can text now -- though I'm really slow and really, really bad at it. Big thumbs, tiny keys. :-)
Still, I'm glad to have it for the pet-sitter in particular.
BTW, re: the pet sitter: She came on Tuesday to watch me give Nicki his Flovent and of course Derry took off upstairs. However, he didn't actually go under the bed and in fact just sat looking at us (from the bedroom floor) as we came up the stairs (I was showing her where all the litter boxes are). He even came downstairs to get his kibble treat when Nicki was getting his, after the Flovent. He (Derry) went right back upstairs, but I'm super-impressed he came down at all with someone in the house. I'll see how things go on Friday, when the pet-sitter returns to do Nicki's meds under my watchful eye. (No pressure, eh? Ha.)
I wanted to add a thank you for all the good thoughts re: last week (crappy). Yesterday was insane, 20 top-level admin meetings to book ASAP with some external consultants flying in, calls to every admin assistant in all the VP offices, faculties, etc. Oh yeah, that was fun. Took the entire day. Of all the admin tasks I have to do (and most of my job is project-related, not admin), I dislike booking meetings the most. But hey, they pay me to do it. And there was wine waiting in the fridge for me when I got home. Alas, no rye. :-)
Peace.

It sounds like the pet sitter might have a bit of a cat whisperer presence since Derry is not entirely frightened. Fingers crossed that it goes well tomorrow.
Love the photos, especially the peony. My yard isn't situated well for sun loving flowers and I miss the bushes I had at the old house.
Have a great Friday!
Think you will enjoy your smart phone.
Congratulations on your new phone. The Galaxy 3 is a good one! :)
Glad Derry showed his lion courage. Go Derry!
The first auction I donated to I donated a set of the duckies I'd had in a drawer for a few years. They were an instant success as they were cats and there are bidding wars each time I donate a set.
I use my pointer finger to type as I am not nimble with the ol' thumbs. I can fly over that keyboard. Turning the device sideways as mentioned above is an excellent idea. My iPhone has a larger keyboard that away too.
