Mid-week catching up

Another mid-week, a third of the way through June already. My days are a blur. My life is a blur!

Someone at work, not in our office, commented to me yesterday about how busy I am and that things must be stressful. I laughed and asked, "Why, does it show?" She replied that yes, it does.

Yikes. Apparently I need to do a better job of plastering a smile on my (exhausted) face.

Anyway, I had a nice walk down along one of our waterfront parks on Sunday. I had assumed, heading down, that all the midge flies would be gone, but ugh, no, they still were swarming. I kept my mouth closed, took some pics, and didn't linger. Took off my cardigan once I got out of the park and shook it out, shook everything out. ::Shudder::

Snapped with the little Elph, so pic quality not good.

I had my MRI yesterday (lower back). That was fun. Several of my co-workers have had at least one, so I knew what to expect, kept my eyes closed from the get-go. Still, it was...unnerving. Very loud, even with the scratchy, crappy music playing via the headphones. (And the tech forgot to turn the music back on after the first set of pics, when she paused to ask if I was okay. I had to "buzz" her after the second set and ask for the music to be turned on again.)

I could feel myself becoming anxious, even though there was no reason. Maybe because I couldn't move at all for the 15 minutes and that's a hard thing to do, to keep still. It was a long 15 minutes.

I found, though, that when I was done, my vision was very blurry. As in not able to drive, if I had a car. I asked the young woman at the front desk if that was normal and she'd not heard of anyone having blurry vision afterward. I think it must have been the vibrations from the pounding noise. I walked (carefully) over to the bus transfer point and caught a bus to work, and by the time I got to the office, about 40 or so minutes afterward, my vision was back to my normal.

Results generally take a week, though I suppose if it's urgent I'll hear from the doctor's office sooner. I proactively called them and made an appointment with my family doctor (i.e. the resident of the month) for Friday the 19th, rather than wait till next week for the receptionist to call me, then yet another week for an appointment.

Then this morning I had a dental cleaning, another "fun" appointment. LOL. The week's been so entertaining!  :-)

I have the pet sitter coming again today after work, to give Nicki his Flovent for a second time. Once more with me home next week, then she'll be coming in alone on the 22nd and 23rd, while I'm at the conference we're hosting.

Finally, on the Halifax front, Mom's looking into private places for Harry, with the help of the social worker. She checked out one home yesterday, and while it was "well-appointed", she said it was more suited to elderly ladies and that there wasn't anything there to engage Harry's interest, something he does need. So the hunt still is on. I don't imagine she's going to have much choice in the matter, in the end. No place will score 100% and I think she knows that.

So that's my past several days.

Oh, this is today's quote on simplerminders.com. Very appropriate for me/us, particularly regarding work right now!

 Peace.

So far, I have never had an MRI. I sure don't want one either. Hoping all is well with yours and I too would make an appointment rather than wait and wait even longer.

Let us know how the boys are with the sitter. I would imagine all will be VERY well. SO glad you took that advice from most of us though I know it's not inexpensive.
How is the noise level these days? You've not said anything.

I had to have a brain MRI and that was scary being surrounded by this huge machine going around me. Luckily they found nothing...sending many purrs of peace

My goodness, it's been a busy time for you. It's nice to check things off the list, MRI done, cleaning done, it's just getting through the crazy weeks leading up to the big projects...and waiting for results is always an anxious time.

I've never had an MRI and hope I never have to, it doesn't sound pleasant and laying still for 15 minutes would just about drive me around the bend. Hope it's all good news from here.

I suspect your mom is going to find that most places cater to older women rather than men simply because of the demographics. Hopefully they find a a good place for Harry soon.

Good luck to the pet sitter! Is Derry still hiding from her?

Lovely photos! Isn't it nice to have the great weather...now if we could just get rid of the freaking bugs!

I've had an MRI before, and you're right ... not fun. I did not have blurry vision afterwards; that sounds really weird, and scary. Glad to hear that went away after 40 minutes.

LOVE the pictures ... especially the family of ducks. :)

We think of you and your Mom and Harry lots. That must be so difficult. We are praying and hoping that they are able to find a suitable place soon.

Hugs!

Nicki's good with the sitter, and I sat on the couch while she did the Flovent yesterday, rather than right in front of her. :-)

The neighbours still can be heard, though they don't shout at the same level they did for the first 2+ years they were here. The girl still has screaming fits every morning when getting ready for school; the times I'm home or am leaving late (for an appt) I can hear her having her tantrums. The boy was shouting about something the other evening, though in fairness kids do scream and have tantrums. But the girl every day? I don't hear the father hurting the girl, thank goodness. Maybe he's straightened himself out, at least a bit.

I'm glad they found nothing too! I was all the way in the tube, even for the lower back. At least it was only 15 minutes. My big boss was in for 45 minutes for an MRI she once had to have!

Oh, yes, Derry took off upstairs when she came in and didn't even come down for kibble this time. However, it didn't take him long after she'd gone to come back downstairs.

Thanks so much for your continued good thoughts.

RE: the MRI, I guess I'm an anomaly with the blurry vision. LOL.
I have had a few MRIs and I always feel trapped and panicked. So I think your reaction was natural.

Sorry you are so busy at work. I hope things slow down for you soon.

The duck family was delightful what a lovely location they have for a home, thanks for sharing.

I hope a suitable place can be found for Harry and that you and your Mom will have peace about it.

Sending good thoughts.

You have a lot going on in your life and your family's. Thanks for taking the time to stop by! Keeping you all in our thoughts.
like the others said, it isn't like you don't have a lot going on..

I never have had a MRI but Chuck has had a couple. He actually fell asleep in the first one! He is so accustomed to being in confined spaces (He had to change wiring in fuel tanks on aircraft for many years) that it did not bother him. I think I would become anxious! I'm glad everything is going well with the pet sitter. Take care Kim and be well.

The MRI would be unnerving for anyone, I think, especially if the result was blurry vision. You may want to follow that up.

It must be a very discouraging thing for your mother, trying to find a place for Harry. Even when she finds one, the fact that Harry has to go there is discouraging. The best of luck to them, in any case.
