I'm so in the wrong business

If only I weren't so squeamish, or far too soft-hearted and thin-skinned for the business, I could have been a vet.

I took today as a vacation day so I could take Derry in to have his lump checked. Poor "little" bear. (Not so little, he's gained 0.6 pounds since the end of March.)

Anyway, the vet really thinks it's just (another) fatty lump, but of course I had the needle aspirate done. I couldn't not do it. $40 for a "brief" exam, then $45 for the needle aspirate itself, never mind the $126 charge for the testing. For $258.32, taxes included, that sample had better come back as benign.

Derry earlier this morning, before the trip to the dreaded vet.

As for his weight -- oy. He's like me, he just looks at food and gains. I'd recently (a few weeks ago) cut back his favourite junky canned food by half and am noticing he's eating less, because he's not as fond of anything else. If that doesn't do it, I'll have to cut it out altogether and let him eat only the ProPlan. (Which he will eat when he's genuinely hungry.) I can't let him keep gaining, though, and he really needs to lose at least 2 pounds.

And to switch topics, I just had to post this pic. Look what happened when I peeled off the green tape yesterday. ::Rolling my eyes::

Ha! I admit my first reaction wasn't one of humour, more of utter frustration and defeat, that everything I try in this house seemingly turns out like crap. I felt cursed and certainly did a lot of cursing! However, after a pity party of about 15 minutes or so, I saw the silliness of the whole thing and started to laugh. It was very muggy yesterday, so what could I expect, painting and then taking the tape off right away?

Anyway, it didn't take very long today to do touch-ups with a small brush. Four coats and it's fine, ready for "real" paint.

But no more little projects for me!  :-)

Peace.

Derry, Cody and I are all the same! You are not heavy! So glad the vet thinks that it is nothing, but I am like you, I would have had it tested too!

Gees, I regained all the weight I had lost two summers ago, so yep, I too am heavy. Oh well it could be worse. As long as we're all healthy it's all good. ☺

I'm glad that the vet thinks it is just another fatty lump, but we'll send purrs, prayers and good thoughts that the test confirms it. We would have done the same thing!

Sorry to hear about the paint and tape stuff. So frustrating, but good that it wasn't so hard to fix. Here's hoping the "real" painting goes off without a hitch. :)

Hugs!

I feel for you. Vets are just like our doctors. Expensive. But where would we be without them? I hope all results are normal. And your project is perfect! ☺

Ah, the frustrations of painting. You don't want to paint in the winter because the smell can be quite bad, yet you paint in the summer to have the windows open and it can be really humid.
Sending good thoughts that Derry's lump is just fatty tissue. My Mum had a picture on the fridge for years that said "You're not fat, just fluffy" with a large cat on it. Derry looks like a kook! Cuddles to both of the boys. Have a good day Kim.

Trying to repair my house is frustrating for cost more than effort, but I can appreciate your reaction.

As for Derry, it always seems to be a battle to get cats to eat right and yet feed them something they like. Food is such an important and enjoyable part of life to them. I hope your boy is able to lose a little weight.

^sigh^ I know the issue with home repairs. I'm getting sick of them myself.
Sending purrs for your Derrybear.
