Catching up from the weekend

I'd taken Friday off to run errands, get the house chores done, etc.

What I didn't post before was the reason: Robin of A Bird's Life and her husband came up on Saturday morning for a visit. (They're about an hour away from me.) They had offered to help with a few things in the house (he's an electrician), which was so kind.

I didn't start to stress until Wednesday/Thursday, because meeting people you know only via cyber-space can be dicey. They could have been psycho killers disguised as decent folks (hey, it's happened too many times). Or for all they knew, I could have been a psycho killer!

Anyway, they are what they seem to be: lovely, decent, generous and kind people. I had a lengthy list of questions for Chuck and really appreciated his willingness to answer, make suggestions, etc. They brought a huge pot of mums for my garden, and Robin brought cookies and a muffin too, all home-made, because she does cook and bake. (Yeah, I gobbled everything down over the weekend.)

Oh and don't let Robin's blog post fool you: They're easy to feed and of course I didn't cook. Salad, some bread, cheese and dessert, that's all.

Now I'm on the hunt for a small (36" - 40") white ceiling fan to replace the ugly one that I currently have, because Chuck offered to install a new one for me, but that's like finding a needle in a haystack. Small ones are hard to come by; small, attractive ones impossible.

So that was the highlight of the weekend for me; Sunday was spent doing more errands, more laundry, and drinking too much wine (while anticipating the return of the fleas after their summer away at the grandmother's). However, I discovered this morning that the neighbours hadn't returned yesterday after all. Maybe they were waiting for this morning. I hope they'll come back when I'm at work, so that they'll be unpacked and settled in before I'm home again. At least I still have leftover wine in the fridge to drink!

Now I'm just plodding through Monday and wishing I hadn't been quite so bad, diet-wise, over the weekend.  :-D

Peace.

Kim, you are hilarious! Thank you for all your kind words. To be honest I wasn't at all worried about meeting you. I guess I am too trusting, but I had such a good feeling about you I wasn't worried.
I'm glad you had a quiet Sunday flea-wise.
I love the cloud photos.
Take care and talk soon.
I think you are way underestimating your meeting! Robin blogged about how delicious your lunch was and how much she enjoyed meeting you! I am sure that lunch was MUCH better than you are letting on!
I found her blog through your blog, and I have been thoroughly enjoying it! They seem like super nice people and you are so lucky that you were able to meet her in person!

It was, thanks. First (and probably only!) blogger I've ever met.

Well, I AM more than a bit "off," as everyone who reads this blog knows. :-)

The fleas are home now, so I'm glad it was when I wasn't around, thanks very much.

Yeah, Robin was exaggerating, trust me. It's not hard to put Farm Boy food on the table (small specialty grocery store in town). LOL.

Yes, they ARE super-nice!

Sounds like a wonderful weekend, meeting new friends, drinking some good wine, and flea less too!

If you happen to be in Halifax between Sept 18 and Oct 3....I'll be there a few days at the beginning and end of that period. Who knows, we might get to meet too. :)

Kim, you crack me up! Psycho-killers indeed! I would the love the opportunity to meet you in person too. I've only met one cat blogger so far, Ann from Cattywumpus, and I can vouch that she's not a psycho-killer! Although she is a killer-cartoonist!

You are not OFF at all Kim. If that is so I guess Chuck and I are too!
So sorry the fleas are home.
