Goats at last!

On Thursday I took a day trip via train to visit with friends, Robin and Chuck (A Bird's Life). They went above and beyond in the chauffeur department, picking me up in Belleville and then taking me back to the train station late in the afternoon--all through construction and detours, I might add.

I was thrilled to finally see "Robin's" goats!

 

 

 

These are the goats behind Reid's Dairy, and Robin has taken a number of pictures of them since she started her blog in the spring. They're so cute, though definitely a handful. One of them started to munch on my jacket, but Chuck rescued it from being goat fodder.  :-)

I also got to see her turtles, though didn't get a good snapshot, they were too far away.

I got the grand tour of their lovely home; they've put a lot of work/renovations into it since purchasing it last year, and it shows. Gorgeous kitchen and bathroom, immaculate house. They live in an older neighbourhood with lots of mature trees, very pretty.

Then Robin fed me (us) lunch and oh, she does make fabulous biscuits! (Cookies too.) 

After tidying up from lunch, we left Chuck to his own devices and Robin took me on a tour of the area. We ended up at a great place called Campbell's Orchards.

More swan gourds! I'd never seen them before in my life, then there they were in at the winery in the County, and now here were more. Many more.

 I'd not seen these "warty" looking pumpkins before, either.

 They had birds.

 

 

 And a couple of pigs too, which I hope aren't slated to be bacon or sausages.

 There was lots of cauliflower, regular, purple and orange.

I bought some local raw honey (oh, is it ever good!), a small fruit crisp (that didn't last long, it was yummy too), and some wonderful cornbread. Mmmmm! I've mentioned that I have no restraint when it comes to food, right?

As a bonus, when we got back to her home, I got meet the neighbours cats, Toby (the grey and white) and Oreo. 

It was harder to snap a pic of Oreo, she doesn't seem to like having her picture taken. I'm used to that, though!

 Toby was munching on grass, even though it looks like he's blowing me a raspberry.

It was a lovely day and I'd like to thank Robin and Chuck for hosting me. Somehow I lucked in and met truly wonderful people!

Now I have only one more day of vacation... Boo hoo! I think I'll go pour myself a beer (leftover from Dad and Hélène) and curl up with my e-reader. Not gonna think about w-o-r-k just yet!
