It's too early for this!

I was in our main shopping centre this morning and noticed that Santa's village has been put up.

I dunno. Before Remembrance Day seems too early to me. There's one municipality in our province that has banned holiday decorations on public property until after the 11th. Not our city, though, the street decorations are up downtown. I guess the workers want to get them up while the weather is still good, and I understand that. (Of course stores are not public property.)

Still.

Anyway, yesterday's memorial for my coworker's mom was lovely, though definitely a tear-jerker. Three of us long-time employees went, along with someone who used to work in our suite (not in our dept) but now is retired.

One of the little items being handed out was a bookmark with a photo of my coworker at about 3 years of age (I'm guessing), being held in her mom's arms. The quote on the bookmark, written by my coworker:
My mother's greatest gift to me is how she lived each day, with grace, kindness and love. A wisdom I've been searching for that she had been teaching me all along.
Yesterday it was my coworker who, amidst the tears, exhibited grace, kindness and love. She has been teaching me much, these past 15 years, without my even realizing it.

I'll leave you with a few sunset snapshots, taken from the moving car while heading home after the service. (Another coworker had give me a lift.)

Taking a back/county road
 On the 401.
Off the highway and almost home.
Peace.

Hi Kim, ignore the email I just sent you! You answered my question here,
Sounds like a lovely service. Sara also sounds remarkable.
I noticed one of our plazas in town has put up their Christmas decorations already. Too soon for me!
Lovely sunset photos.
Talk soon.

Sounds like a nice memorial service. Glad you were able to attend. Christmas seems to come earlier every year but we won't be decorating in any way until after Thanksgiving. It's just too early!

Yes, it's too early to think about Christmas. Retailers want it as early as possible, as it helps people spend money. I need to be in the mood for Christmas, which would start in early December.

It's odd how a memorial or a funeral can be a good thing, even if it is because of a bad thing. Such events are not about a person's death but about that person's life, and that can be a wonderful remembrance. Your co-worker's mum was clearly a good woman and a beneficial influence.
As I entered our local grocery store this morning, Christmas literally slapped me in my face! I was shocked! Even the employees are hating it.

The memorial service sounds like it was wonderful. I think it's beautiful that you saw so clearly in your co-worker the lessons of grace, kindness and love her mom taught her.

Our local Home Depot had their full-on Christmas section set up in the middle of October. Jeesh!

Mom guessed they want to be the first shop to get the first sale!

And totally does agree with John.

Have a fantastic week !
