Dental follow up: Nothing to be done at this time except wait and see

Thanks, guys, for the positive vibes.

I saw my dentist this AM and she did the percussion test, also took x-rays. There's nothing dire right now. It's possible that the lower molar with the crown (that had a previous crack, hence the crown) will need root canal down the road, but the x-ray was inconclusive. It's also possible that the adjacent tooth (closer to the front), which has existing cracks, will need to be filled.

But both are a wait and see, and her recommendation is that I continue to take an anti-inflammatory every day, at the max dose, and give things some time to settle down.

She said I could always call and get her to prescribe antibiotics and anti-inflammatories if things don't improve. I'll see how it goes through this week and then do that if I need to next week, before she takes her Christmas vacation.

And in the meantime...no more melt-downs that involve gnashing of teeth. LOL.

Peace.

Even if things improve and the pain lessens, it may not hurt to get a prescription for some medicine before the doctor is unavailable. Then at least you'll be able to be relatively pain-free through Christmas. It may have been a temporary inflammation that is already passing. I hope so.

I hope it's just a passing thing and that you have a pain free Christmas.

John gives the best advice Kim. I hope you continue to improve. Chuck is at the dentist right now but it is just for a cleaning.
Take care and we will talk soon.

Yes, if I feel I need it I'll do that Monday, or maybe even this Friday. It seems to be improving slowly, though, so that's a good thing! Fingers crossed! Learn from my mistakes, people. LOL.

Thanks, I appreciate it!

Me too, thank you!

Ugh, I'm glad he's just there for a cleaning, nothing else!

Oh there is not a lot worse than dental worries. Painful and expensive. xo

Totally beautiful sky. You got the clouds a bit later, I got another sunrise.

I used to be a dental assistant. Keep an eye on this. It sounds like something is brewing. If pain continues, go back!

No worries, I will. I'm sure the tooth with the crown eventually will need a root canal, and I'm also sure the tooth with the existing crack will need to be partially removed and filled, but that would happen anyway. My little meltdown might have sped up the process, though!

We have partial coverage through work, so that's good!

I was lucky enough to get some sunset clouds walking home after work today. The sun sets so early now that I usually don't; I was a few minutes early leaving the office today. :-)

Oh man, I hate toothache. Hope it settles soon.

I actually didn't think of that! Very unlike me! LOL.
