Who ordered winter?

I don't know who ordered the snow and freezing rain, but I have a few words (and finger gestures) for him or her.

We got about 10 cms of snow before it changed over to freezing rain, and it's been a messy day. Clearing my driveway wasn't as bad as I expected, though. I took it slowly and even so, it was only half an hour to do it.

I did head out for a few hours (I go stir-crazy when cooped up in the house). Transit was running on time, in spite of the road conditions. Awesome job on the part of the drivers! It was kind of nice to be downtown with hardly another soul around, and I even popped into a few stores (drugstore, dollar store, etc.). Super time to shop too. LOL.

That's it, I'm done with winter, am so ready for Spring!

WE have had record heat! It was 85 degrees today. A record for December in Florida. A cool front in dropping in for the weekend but it will only bring us seasonal weather nothing cold yet. I know Spring is a long way aways Kim.

When you find out who ordered Winter, please let me know. We had a storm come through the Great Lakes. We had rain, freezing rain, sleet, snow, and then kept layering it for several more hours. It took me four hours to clear our driveway, back walk, and front walk. The township road crew destroyed our frontage again, plowing it up and onto our yard, driveway, and walks. Then our neighbor's handyman plowed their driveway, and threw it all onto my driveway...four+ inches of ice and snow chunks. *sigh* I want a cabin in the woods...me, Bill, and critters...and the moon. Yeah.

Looks like Christmas came to your town! May it pass swiftly! We just have rain, what we always have in the winter. I've heard there have been record snows in the Cascade mountains (193 inches) for December, glad I'm not up there! Seattle got over 11 inches in rain in December. wet as it always is.

Winter made a stop here last night, too! We only got about an inch before it changed over, and today was pretty messy on the roads. But snow was a big change from just few days ago, when it was 70 degrees. Stay warm!

Wonderful photos Kim. Brave lady venturing out! We got around the same amount of snow you did with more freezing rain last night. This morning everything is covered in a layer of ice. It was an interesting walk yesterday. I think the city put down 16 grains of salt on the sidewalks! Slippery! We drove by the lake on the edge of town on Monday and there must have been 500 Canada Geese. Oh course I didn't have my camera! You have so many historic buildings, lovely to see.

Gees, all I've heard on the weather-related news is how bad/stormy things are in so many areas of the continent. Record heat! Send a bit our way, at least enough so that we get plus temps back. LOL.

LOL, yes. But better winter than tornadoes, so I feel very fortunate in spite of the messy conditions. Thinking of you and your family!

Four hours! OMC, my body would collapse. That's when you want to be able to pay a snow-clearing company or private person. Take it easy out there!

We had a taste of the kind of weather the west coast would get for most of November and much of December. The grey really was depressing. However, it's still grey here...only now you can't walk on the sidewalks! :-/

A very large geographical area got hit, and I know Halifax got about 25 cms on top of what the previous storm dumped. I'll count myself lucky I don't live there anymore. LOL. Mom is thrilled she doesn't have to shovel!

The city puts down salt? Consider yourself lucky. LOL. A couple of winters ago I took pics of the sheer ice passing for the sidewalk at and leading up to a high-use bus shelter and sent the pics off to the city. That was a week or so after the storm we'd had, btw. It didn't take too long after that for the sidewalk sander to go by; the next time I walked there (across from Kingston Centre, along Princess Street), it had been done. Seriously, people. Ever since the city sub-contracted its snow-clearing some years back, the service has gone downhill. And the snow-clearing (sidewalks) wasn't great before! There just aren't enough plows to be effective and timely.

The city still does our sidewalk clearing and plowing. As I look out now I see they have sanded and salted the sidewalks and they are clear. Better walk today.

I think the only thing worse than snow is freezing rain. It is soooo dangerous! The photos are pretty but make me shiver.

I hate to write it but winter's only a week or so old... And what's with no snow in Michigan, of all places, Ms Gittelman??

We had snow here, and -15 temperatures, in time for my move out of the house. But at least we can be cosy with the cats and have a good New Year's Eve. Happy new year to you, Kim, Nicki and Derry!
