Giving in to silly temptation

I had popped into Michaels (crafts) this morning, looking for something specific, but saw that they still had a few of these left, now at 80% off:

Cute, fuzzy reindeer!

I couldn't help myself, for $10 I gave in to silly temptation.

Actually, I had seen them on Boxing Day, for 70% off, but didn't want to pay $15 then. I saw them again a few days later, same price. Apparently $10 was my threshold. So not worth the original price of $50 CDN (or $40 USD). Probably cost 50 cents to make in some terrible sweatshop overseas.

But for $10 he was mine.  :-)

BTW, Michaels has all their lovely spring floral stems and bunches in stock now. Pricey, but they're probably the best artificial flowers around. It was cheery to see them all, especially since we've barely had a glimmer of sunshine since Christmas Eve -- it feels like it's been grey and dreary for 99 consecutive days, not 9.

This was our glimpse of sun, early this morning:

That was it.

It's almost "it" for my holiday time off too. Thoughts of work (and the return of the fleas) have been preying on my mind a bit (maybe more than a bit), but I'm making a conscious effort to put that aside, to ask every day for help changing myself.

I posted this on December 22 and I read it, "pray it" every day, sometimes multiple times a day.

I saw this today, one of the slew of inspirational messages on my FB feed:

I might have to "wallpaper" my cubicle with inspirational messages, just to get through the days.

Oh, I do have a couple of deliveries to look forward to this week: another Honeywell air purifier to replace the piece-of-crap Bionaire one I have upstairs, and a 4.5 x 6.5 area rug from Ikea. I looked all over town this past week for an inexpensive area rug that size that wasn't hideous, extremely cheap-looking or beyond my budget, couldn't find a thing. I hope this one will be okay! It's just a plain off-white, high pile (not shag) area rug. Want to take bets on which cat will puke on it first?  :-D

That reminds me, I did get the large floral canvas print up without any problem, used a picture-hanging kit and put the nail into a stud.

It's okay for an inexpensive canvas that size, and it has the neutral, soothing tones that go well with my bedroom. I hung it slightly higher than I probably should have, just in case I ever do get a headboard or bed frame. It's the first picture I've hung on the walls since the last time I painted, some years back now. It actually seems a bit strange to be "adding" to a room instead of "subtracting". (Though I do have more clothing and other "stuff" ready for donation!)

I think that's it. I need to go write in my gratitude "journal" now, to remind myself of all the good in my life.  :-)

Peace.

I bought a wood star I saw before Christmas at $28 dollars, but got for $7 this week. Your picture looks lovely up Kim, nice and calm and soothing.

Your new reindeer is adorable! I bought a similar, smaller version at Loblaws last year after Christmas too.
I see we are supposed to get some sun tomorrow but wickedly cold! Make sure you bundle up.
Wonderful inspirational messages. We could all learn something from them.
Beautiful canvas above your bed. I am glad you went with a nail to hang it up. More secure. As Poppy says it is a very calming and soothing picture.
Take care and talk soon.

I think your reindeer was a good buy, Kim. And your bedroom looks very nice... comfortable and comforting.
As for the puking - it's only a matter of time with cats.

I have covered the fitted carpeting in my new apartment with rugs. I've been here four days and Josie has thrown up on them once, Cammie - who is sick - has thrown up twice a day and Tucker wiped his bum on them after exiting the litter-box. Nice but ultimately disposable rugs are the way to go when living on rented carpets. Even so, I hope your boys refrain from changing the colour of your new rug.
boy did I ever need this post today, THANK YOU!
Love your fuzzy reindeer and I LOVE how your bedroom looks! So pretty!

We were at Michael's today, too. We didn't see any cute reindeer like yours, though. :)

Those quotes are wonderful. Especially the first one. WOW!

Love the reindeer, so adorable! We might need him to pull CC's sled next year...MOL! Wonderful quotes and the painting looks lovely too.

And I like the "8 Things to Give Up". I know I'm living up to the first one. That's a start, right?

They had another reindeer that was lying down, and she was cute too, but I wasn't getting both. :-)

Oooh, great bargain at $7! Love it! :-)

I so seldom go to Loblaws, I ought to pop in there more often. I know you can get good deals at the end of a season when they're clearing out merchandise.

The canvas is still hanging, knock on wood. LOL.

LOL at the puking. Yes, it's only a matter of time. And then Nicki likes to use carpet as toilet paper too, quite often. :-p

Happy New Year to you both too!

Haha! That didn't take them long! Purrs from the boys to poor Cammie, though, we hope she's better soon.

Thanks, Caren.

Seriously, I'm so bombarded every day with all the inspirational stuff...I need it. I've been many, many years in mental survival mode, while my life is passing by. I needed to do that, and thank my ego for protecting me, but now I think I'd like to open myself up to more. The inspirational messages help!

I know...I have that first quote in my office cubicle and at home. Very powerful. However, an external change (i.e. the permanent disappearance of my neighbours) would be welcome! As would a change for the better at work. :-)

I'm sure the reindeer and I could be accommodating. LOL.

It's a great start! I'm really bad with 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8...I need a lot of help. LOL.

The reindeer looks kind of cute! The Staff says that she prefers little chocolate ones she can eat! She has no class!! MOL
