Giant Inflatable Penguin?
I was walking home yesterday afternoon, along one of the streets in our general neighbourhood, and saw what looked, from a distance, to be a giant inflatable penguin. I did a double take, but it was only as I got closer that I could make out it was two people in black jackets standing at the end of one driveway, with the tail end of a silver/light grey car in the driveway behind them.
Is this a sign I should be wearing my prescription glasses? The ones I bought at Costco last summer but don't wear, because the progressive lenses make me feel ill? :-D
Anyway, a happy birthday to my step-dad, who is 85 today.
Pic (you've seen) from last November, when I visited Mom
I remember calling him last year for his birthday, when he still was living at their (former) home, and thinking that he wouldn't live to see 85. But being ornery and contrary, he's made it! Mom always says he'll outlive us all, and you know, she might be right. :-)
Happy birthday, Harry.
Peace.

And I wouldn't say that optical illusions are always signs of bad vision. I see them once in a while, when the light falls a certain way, or angles conspire. That it's a trick of the mind rather than the eye is shown by the fact that once you see what the reality is, you can't re-capture the illusion. Which is sad.
The progressives are definitely weird to get used to but the clue is keeping them on till you do. You need to learn unconsciously to tuck your chin lower or less to bring the right part into line. Good luck!
I wear glasses to see at a distance. And oh the things I think I see when I don't have them on. :)
I, too wear glasses for distance. You would NOT want to drive with me if I didn't! When I was a teenager I refused to wear my glasses and anything that blew by the side of the road, garbage, leaves I would think was a small animal. Funny vision you had!
Take care!

You made me laugh with your story about the giant inflatable penguin, um, two people in parkas.
