That elusive "white space"

I realize now where most of my "white space" has gone: to social media. Probably most of us could say the same thing.

I had a long period of a few (or more) years where I had only dial up at home (at the time, a free connection via work) and it was then that I read more, walked more with my camera, and so on.

Now...Well, now I'm seriously considering being off-line entirely for one day each weekend, either the Saturday or Sunday.

Anyway, I have some random pics to post. For the couple of people who aren't on FB and haven't seen her, this is Tinkerbell. She's a 6 - 7 week old goat rescued from a goat meat farm by one of the vet clinic staff. She's currently being bottle-fed, but soon will stay at home in her new shed (currently being built). She was a great distraction for me on Friday afternoon, while Nicki was having his anal glands expressed.

I did get to pat her, but not for long, as she was into everything.
Barnacle, one of the clinic cats, wasn't particularly perturbed by her presence.

She had a thing for this scale, kept walking up onto it.

 Eating dirt.  :-)
Yesterday friends came up to visit, and while Chuck started on my main level trim (I never can repay either of them for their kindness and generosity), Robin and I did a few errands, then had a quick walk in the cemetery in my area . I hadn't been since last fall and it was very busy, being Mother's Day. I wasn't used to seeing so many people!

The flag at Sir John A. MacDonald's grave site.
Some type of spring flower. Robin noticed them and the trilliums too.

Little Melinda's grave, planted for spring.
 Wild violets

 Mr Frog
There were a few ducks around.
 Magnolias in bloom.
 Pretty daffodils decorating this grave.
 Hi Mr or Ms Chippie!

It turned out to be a lovely day, and I did get some much-needed "white space." I'll take more of that, please, and less of the tech devices, thanks.  :-)

Peace.

I'm sure you'll find the balance you are seeking and that white space you need. Beautiful photos, as always.

Your photos turned out much better than mine Kim.
Loved spending the day with you. Always a fun time!

You always take great pics, Robin! I don't think Chuck would describe the day as "fun." LOL.

It's a hard balance to achieve. If I live to retirement and am healthy enough to enjoy it, I might find the balance then. :-D

Oh...my...gosh...what? I am totally distracted by this baby goat. I wonder if we have a local goat rescue here. Bottle feeding is my strength. XO
Kim; The goat is too cute.....we are not and probably never will be on facebook so thanx for sharing; I wont show the photo of her eating dirt to tuna, he'll be mega jealous.....

and while I do see emails that come through the phone on the weekend; and yes, some are answered; unless it's a major milestone on a blog; I'm not online from the time I leave here on friday { work } until the time I come back.

it's "weird" for lack of a better word at first, when say it's sunday afternoon in the dead of winter and you're wondering....hmmmmmmm....online....or not.....

but trust me, once that whole facebook/blogging/social media withdrawal is gone from your system, ☺☺☺ it's easy

...I think the temptation to turn the computer on, on the weekends, lasted about...three weeks for me... ! ♥♥♥

There probably are any number of ways to find a baby of one species or another to bottle feed! I don't think there's any goat rescue per se, but somehow Tinkerbell came to be saved. I imagine that working at a vet clinic, especially one that does both large and small animals, gives you an "in" to the local farms.

I've been doing FB for less than 6 months, or maybe just, so not long. I could drop that no problem. It's the lure of everything else: email, blogging, online shopping, web surfing, etc. :-)

Some wonderful pictures. I didn't know Sir John was buried in Kingston.

I have a Facebook account, created to help sell my house and other items. Now, it just sits there, collecting messages that have nothing to do with me. I look at it maybe once a week. Anything I have to do with social media is done through my blog or the few blogs I look at. I used to do historical research online but found almost everything there to be extremely general in scope, unsubstantiated or just plain inaccurate. So now I limit my research to finding books on the subjects I want. I find some satisfaction in treating the internet as little more than a big bookshop.

I wonder if goats get into things as much as cats do?

How nice that you got to enjoy some more white space, Kim. I'm hoping to find some more of it around here, too. Your pictures of goings on at the cemetery are beautiful. And I love that Tinkerbell is smaller than Barnacle (is this true, or is the camera angle?). :)

Hugs to you and the boys!

Yes, all of Sir John A.'s immediate family is buried there, in the same plot. Very understated.

I do like the FB account for all of the inspirational stuff I get. Right now I need the daily reminders that I do have choices, that I'm only as stuck in my life as I choose to be. I wouldn't want to give that up quite yet, it's just easier to get all that in one spot!

Haha! hat never even occurred to me! Tinkerbell definitely is bigger than Barnacle. :-D

I so agree that social media takes a lot of white space. Just finishing checking my e-mails, Facebook and starting to catch up on reading blogs. I've been home for almost 2 hours, and taken two phone calls as well. It is part of the reason why I haven't been blogging as much lately, either for me or the cats. And I've definitely reduced the amount of blogs that I read and/or comment on.

Love the photos of the goat and the flowers!
