"Hot town, summer in the city"
That Lovin Spoonful song sums it up, as we swelter through our second heat wave of the summer, with the humidex set to hit 41 - 42 C today (about 107 F). No need to tell you that my house feels like a sauna right now, and the day is only starting. Poor boys, with all that fur!
Derry yesterday evening. Well, every evening this week.
The work week has been uneventful, at least for me.
I did have a doctor's appointment on Tuesday morning, first thing, just for several minor issues. I go to a teaching clinic, and the resident (female this time, yay!) was just starting her residency. Oh, she was slow! I was in there for over an hour, she was in and out, the nurse was in twice to show her how to do a couple of things (vaccinations being one of them), the overseeing doctor was in, etc., etc.. Oy!
With regard to the vaccinations: I needed my 10-year tetanus booster, and now it's piggy-backed with whooping cough and diphtheria. Well! I really don't remember any side effects the last time, but of course it was a decade ago. This time, however, it's taken till this morning to really feel okay (body-wise). Only a bit of lingering arm discomfort, very mild. I can't quite describe the side effects (other than my entire left side, neck to shoulder blade, feeling like it was on fire), I just wasn't feeling well, feeling right, at all. So I'm glad that seems to have passed now!
No specific weekend plans for me beyond the usual. I might be hanging out more in various stores, going from a/c to a/c. I'll probably forgo all the house chores -- too hot to do them (or that will be a great excuse).

It has been awhile for me since I received a tetanus booster. I won't look forward to it now!
I prefer a female doctor too. Though for most of my life I have had male doctors. The last 5 years I have had a female but she retired so we have a male doctor again.
Poor Derry! He does have such a beautiful, thick coat.

I'm back to watering the garden (not the "grass") every other day now. Everything is crisping up out there. Ugh.
As for shots, I haven't had vaccinations since I was in school. Are whooping cough and diphtheria dangers there? I thought of getting tetanus shots because I work with rescued cats, but have never gotten around to it. But then, I'm a man, so I'll probably just trust to luck that nothing bad happens.
I'm not particularly pro or anti-vaccine, though I don't get the cats vaccinated (as adult/senior house cats). I never get a flu shot, and won't unless my immune system is somehow compromised and it makes sense to do so, but as for other things...yeah, I can see the value of being vaccinated -- but not OVER-vaccinating. There's a balance in there, IMO.
But I don't know why the Ontario government now recommends the added whooping cough and diphtheria -- maybe they're making money off it somehow.
If I'm here another few years I hope I'll be able to get it done, and have the aging furnace replaced at the same time.
It's an expense I can't take on at this time, however. That's okay, I'm happy with the renos I had done this past winter and spring. :-)
According to the weather we've got more storms heading our way which should cool it down tomorrow. Hope you find a place to cool off too!
