I should have been an endodontist
I had the consult with the endodontist yesterday morning regarding my needed root canal. A few minutes of his time, a bit of tapping on some lower teeth, and it was $110. Fortunately my health insurance will reimburse me the full amount.
The actual root canal, not scheduled until October 24th, is estimated to be $1697, tax in. How much of that my insurance will cover remains to be seen. If they haven't sent me an email with that info by the end of next week, I'll give them a call or send them an email.
I just couldn't be a dentist or a dental specialist, but oh boy, if you have the stomach for it, you're in the money. Big time!
The week has been ordinary otherwise. Lovely fall weather at the moment: cool mornings, warming up to low to mid-20s C as the day progresses. Perfect.

I like the second and third cloud photographs. There is something about the big, towering clouds, bright with sunlight that I enjoy seeing.
Oct 24 isn't too bad...unless it's giving you pain.
My endodontist decided to refer me to someone else, who could hopefully see me sooner than Nov 25th. Another consultation and fee. :(

Not sure how dental insurance works in Canada, but in the USA the best one can hope for is about half the cost be covered by the insurance for endodontics and crowns. I hope you find out you will do better than that. The Dad in our house has a VERY expensive mouth - Mom holds her breath every time he goes for a cleaning in fear of what else will be revealed. And sadly a lot of the problems stem from poor dental care when he was a child and teenager. For example the front tooth he got broken during playing football (no mouth guards in those days!) and rather than making a crown, then dentist PULLED OUT the root!
It was pretty common, back in the day, to pull teeth instead of repairing them. I also realize that sometimes the tooth can't be saved, though today usually every effort is made to do so.
Gawd, I hate going to the dentist...any dentist.
