Made it to week's end!
Happy Friday to all and belated happy Thanksgiving to those of you in the U.S.. Now it's "Black Friday," the super-shopping day of the year for many. Less so here in Canada, though most retailers have gotten on board with the big American sale date. (Our huge sale date traditionally was/is Boxing Day, December 26th.)
Anyway, I took advantage of one of Ikea's sales and ordered a new TV bench at 15% off. A sufficient deal to make up for the shipping cost and it should be delivered next week. I've hummed and hawed over which one to order for many months now, so hope I'm not disappointed with my final decision. I have a few other things I'd like to order as well, but those will wait till their next "free shipping" date, which I hope will be Christmas.
Speaking of deliveries, I got the dining table I'd ordered from Wayfair.ca. (Still waiting on the chairs.)
Of course that's Nicki up on the box.
Derry checks things out.
Pros: It's very sturdy, easy to put the legs on, fits in my little dining "alcove" nicely, is a good price, and it's great to have a dining table that's a regular 29" height, not pub height.
Cons: It was shipped without extra packaging (from Titus Furniture), so really no protection from getting banged up. The underside of the table is marred and those cloth pulls you see in the above pics were stapled on. Removing the staples made a bit of a mess of the wood. There's also slight damage to one finished edge, which could have been avoided if they had shipped their product with better care. (I stated this in my review on Wayfair and also mentioned this to the customer service rep on the phone this morning, when I called to find out the scoop on the chairs.)
So 5 out of 5 for appearance, but minus points for shoddy shipping and lack of care with the product. I give it a 3.5 out of 5 overall. It's certainly not worth the $6oo+ Wayfair had as a regular price. It's not worth anywhere near that. I'm satisfied I paid a reasonable amount at less than $200, would not pay more.
Now I'll see how long it takes for the chairs to arrive! From the instructions I downloaded they look a little trickier to get together, but I'll do my best. This will be a warm-up to the Ikea TV bench assembly. Ha.
One of the Misters Squirrel yesterday afternoon.
As you can see, we do still have snow, though the rain is taking it away and it's just a grey, dirty mess now.
I was off Wednesday to take Nicki to the vet for his anal glands. That was fine, the only issue being that he'll need a dental within the next handful of months. I think I'll aim for February, when he's due to go back for his glands anyway.
I also was off Thursday with the cold that just won't go away. One of those bugs where you feel lousy for a few days, perk up, then feel crummy again, perk up...repeat as often as necessary. I blame the budget director, who came to work sick (for the entire week) a couple of weeks ago. A few of us since have succumbed.
That's about the sum of the "excitement" here.
Wishing everyone a lovely day and weekend....
Peace.

The squirrel looks like he has fattened up well for the winter.
Hope you feel better soon.
Take care!
A dental for Nicki, eh? Poor fellow. I guess it's a less bothersome procedure for a cat, but is still worrying. And as for your cold, why would a director come in while sick? Being a director, I assume he gets paid sick-days; he should have taken some. We don't get sick-days here, so we have to come in, infect everyone and work at a much reduced efficiency, or stay home and lose a day's pay. When it comes to employee management, my boss hasn't caught up to the 1960s yet, never mind the new century. I hope you recover finally over the weekend.
We ALL get sick days in this office, there was no good reason for him to come in to work (except perhaps for meetings). He could have worked easily from home.
I'm feeling so-so, thanks. Wearing down a bit but it's noon, so only four more hours to go.
As for the squirrel...I admit he (or she) IS cute! Cuter than the black ones around, anyway. There are a least two grey ones in the family, and I have no idea which is which.
Couldn't hurt to try.
Looking forward to seeing your new furniture =) I hope to have a look at this Wayfair website to see what they have to offer. I'm looking for some shoe storage.
That squirrel is pretty plump =) Ear scritches to the boys!
With your supervisors, I'm 100 % sure your mom will do a purrfect job =^x^=
Have a great weekend & stay warm !
What crappy packaging! Fortunately, perhaps, with the table you can cover it with a cloth so the damage is hidden. My table has taken a number of bumps and scratches so I never leave it uncovered any more. I sure hope the chairs arrive in better shape.
Tell Nicki I feel for him. It's time for me to head to the dentist and I dread it more than almost anything.
Have a good rest of the weekend!
As for the dentist...I go on Tuesday for part 2 of the root canal. I'm more concerned about the after-effects this time, and also that there might still be infection so that a third visit would be necessary. :-(
That squirrel looks totally plump, and all ready for the cold winter. :)
Feel better soon (get some rest, if possible, and be good to yourself)!
Hugs to you, Nicki and Derry
