Now, this kind of nature I like!

I went to our city greenhouse on Sunday afternoon, was the first one in around 1:45, so had about 15 minutes all to myself before the place officially opened at 2PM.

This is the kind of warm nature I appreciate!

Even though I couldn't smell the flowers, the colour was glorious. I took over 150 snapshots, and didn't delete many at all, so I have a lot more to post -- though I promise I won't post them all, or even close to it. LOL.

After the floral snapshots, I have more winter themed pics from a jaunt around the Royal Military College on our holiday Monday. Cold, but sunny, and nice to walk around the perimeter, all along the water.

Kim,I didn't even notice there weren't any people in your photos! Lucky you to have that 15 minutes all to yourself to take photos. The orchids are so beautiful. I am so desperate for flowers I was sniffing the tulips at the grocery store.

You either have to go early or be patient. There are one or two people in other pics, as there was a big influx at 2 PM. Just about everyone is taking pics too -- either with their DSLR, smart phone or p&s. Some amateur and/or professional photographers there.

I enjoy formal gardens, the lay-outs, the colours, the arrangements. I prefer them outside, but a 'winter garden' indoors can be very pleasant indeed. I wish our town had something similar.

The winter display is very welcome! Apparently the city has been doing this for decades. I didn't realize it was so long-running.

Our day lilies are coming up! That is unheard of for this area! I wonder what the spring and summer will be like. I fear it may get "too hot". *augh*

The displays (and the photos) are lovely! I know it is too early for spring here on the Prairies, but I'm so looking forward to the first bit of green. (If the grand baby weren't due I'd planned to be on Vancouver Island in March....I'm sure spring will be earlier there)

Oh, I love your photos, Kim! What a great place to escape the winter blues. The Bronx (NY) Botanical Garden is having an orchid show right now ... we are thinking of going soon.
