I think I'm allergic to winter

Surely it can't be a cold virus for two solid months, keeping me this congested every. single. day. I must be allergic to winter.

It was a quiet weekend at our place. I had to run up to Walmart on Saturday to return something I had bought online (they sent me the wrong size), and for the first time ever, I wussed out and took a taxi to go shopping. The windchill was minus 38C at the time and I. just. could. not. bear to stand outside waiting for a bus, even dressed in layers.

I didn't even leave the house on Sunday. It was minus 35C in the morning, with the wind, and I'd had enough. I went back to bed at 8:30 AM instead of heading out.

The boys had the right idea:
Nicki, above, was sitting on a small stool covered with one of the Ikea faux "sheepskin" rugs. (I have two others in the house for them, one on the living room floor, one on the bedroom ottoman.)

Derry, meanwhile, snuggled up on the couch.
Smart cats!

Today is "warm" by comparison, but it's been snowing all day, so I'll get my exercise after work when I go home and shovel the driveway.

In the meantime, I found these cute winter cartoons via Google:
And one lovely, positive take on winter:
I'd like the box of chocolates right now.

If you're freezing and/or snowed in/snowed under, hang on -- we're one day closer to Spring.  :-)

Peace.

Yes, we're all with you on the excessive heat too. Spring and then fall are my favourite times of the year. They're just short here!

Ditto on cartoon #2 -- I downloaded several and that was my favourite.

You guys stay warm and cosy too!

Kim, I think your cats have the right idea... and Derry looks extremely cozy! If I lived there, I'd probably stay snuggled up until spring.
We are not fans of Winter either.
While we do not have snow yet, those cold days are brutal.
We cats love being inside, but we have to listen to mum complain.
However, we have not had it as bad as you guys , so mum has no right to complain.
Stay warm!

It has been brutally cold! Calling a cab sounds like a smart idea =)
Your boys look so comfy and cozy. I think we should follow their lead!
Love the funnies. I really enjoyed the last quote.
Nicki looks like he's sitting in snow. So cute!

I hate winter too, though I'm pretty sure I'm not allergic. Our temps have improved since the beginning of January, but we've got colder temps forecast for later this week. So far it looks like the cold will short-lived but it is January so I'm not holding my breath.

The cats definitely have the right idea I love the cartoons..especially Maxine!

Nicki looks like he's sitting on a cloud. :) I like that last graphic. That sounds like bliss to me.

I've had allergies for over a month now! The only reason I know it's not a cold is because it's lasting so long. I've never had this before. My nose is constantly running and I have a cough off and on. I'm so stuffy and miserable that I'm thinking of trying allergy medicine. I have had strange reactions to medicine I've tried in the past (Benadryl, Sudafed, and Claritin), but I need to do something. Ok, enough complaining.

I don't know how you do it. We think 2 degs is super cold and we don't have snow. I have had about 4 flus this year and almost constantly seem to be sick so I feel you pain. I am worry that I have ruined my lungs somehow.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Kim, sweet photos of the boys. They sure look comfy!
So sorry you are so stuffed up.
I was hoping you would take a cab on Saturday. Too darn cold to stand and wait for buses.
Did you have tons of snow to shovel out of your driveway? It was fun here as we got rain on top of the snow.
Take care!

I'd love to stay snuggled up till spring...but then I wouldn't have a job. LOL.

There have been plenty of winters where the east coast has had tons of snow and we haven't, it's just our turn right now. I just want to be done with the brutal cold!

I thought of you, actually, when I saw that last quote. My feelings about winter are more in line with "Maxine". Ha.

Ha, he does, doesn't he? I'm sure he prefers the faux fur. :-)

Yes, there's a lot of winter left for most of us, but I do notice it lighter now when I get home, and I saw the horizon getting light as I was walking early this AM. So we're getting there!

A lot of those allergy (and cold) meds make me feel "funny," usually woozy and/or with a tingling scalp or other weird head sensations. Benadryl puts me out like a light! So good luck finding something that works for me. My congestion is better today, so it just *has* to be weather/barometric pressure related, IMO.

I meant works for YOU...not me. LOL .Though finding something that works for myself would be fabulous. Maybe I'm allergic to living in Ontario. :-D

I hope YOU feel better now and *stay* healthy! It's been a bad year for the flu virus globally -- this was the first year as an adult that I opted to get the flu vaccine, even though it's hit and miss with that.

As for dealing with brutal cold and snow...even we aren't used to prolonged bitter temps anymore. You don't know how I do it, but really, I don't know how you cope with the earthquakes -- that seems terrifying and obviously is far more destructive.

Yes, we'd had drizzle on top of the snow, so when I got home it was heavy shovelling. Not huge amounts in the driveway, fortunately, except for some spots. Glad that driveway is so short! Still, it was slow going and I was tempted to leave it, except for the delivery people dropping stuff off today (supposedly) and of course I need a taxi for Nicki's appt this afternoon.

Have a good day, enjoy the walk in Proctor Park...take lots of pics. :-)

Oh the boys look so cozy! But again, winter always "looks" cozy but isn't. I hope that you're thawing out a little. I know we all still have a ways to go until it's warmer.

This has been a very energetic!!! winter. Cold to the nth degree. Wet, cold, cold, wet. Kate won't get unstuck from the warm air blowy things at ALL!

Yes, winter "looks" cosy in photos and in Bing Crosby's "White Christmas." Ha. Reality is less enjoyable, as is often the case with reality in so many ways. But it was 0C (32F) today, windchill minus 8C, so that was warm, relatively speaking!

Katie is very smart! "Energetic" is a good way to put it. A polite way to put it. :-)

I think I'm allergic to winter, too, Kim! Just keep telling yourself, Spring IS coming (but not soon enough).
