Pet-Sitting Perk
Some of you might recall that I use a pet sitting company for the boys, and have for the past few years. Some of you also might recall that I've bemoaned the loss of the first sitter a couple of years ago, when she left the company. The two subsequent sitters I've had haven't quite been up to her level of gentleness, care and competence, and I've been particularly leery of leaving the boys, even for just a night. (Of course, I'm paranoid about their care anyway...)
Well, I was in PetSmart on Saturday, ran into our former sitter! Actually, she saw me first and recognized me as Nicki and Derry's mom.
Well, I was in PetSmart on Saturday, ran into our former sitter! Actually, she saw me first and recognized me as Nicki and Derry's mom.
And, OMG, she started her own pet-sitting business!
She's bonded, insured, has pet first aid and CPR...the whole nine yards.
I was over the moon! I told her I didn't know if I should do a happy dance right there in the aisle or burst into tears.
I've booked her for my June trip to Halifax, and for a day this month when I have an after-hours work function to attend.
The bonus to this is that she, herself, has diabetes, so if it turns out that Nicki is diabetic and needs insulin, she will be able to give it to him without any problem.
This is a huge weight off my shoulders! I'm not going to burn my bridges with the other pet sitting company, because I might need them. The company owner has been very patient and accommodating with me, and last year I did give her authority to come in and rescue the boys if I'm incapacitated. So I'll leave things as they stand for time being.
However, my preference is to have just one really terrific person coming in, not a different person every six months or every year, one that we all have to start from scratch with. So as long as sitter #1 is willing/available, I'll book her.
Nicki, below. His fur isn't growing back; in fact, I think the bald spot is spreading. Poor boy!
It's not stopping him from being full of beans!
Derry looking sweet, as usual.
From a Google search:
Peace.

Your boys are cute, as always!
It's been a couple of years since the old/new sitter has seen the boys, so we'll see how things go!

The cartoon makes me think of a house full of Cammies (though she is very good about not scratching anything she shouldn't.)
