May, I hardly knew you
I don't know where the month of May went, but she and I didn't get well-acquainted this year.
Things are crazy and scattered at work, as I enter my busiest time of the year, and on a personal note, I'm scrambling to get things done at home before I fly out on Saturday morning to visit Mom. It's not as easy as simply packing a bag and hopping on a plane when you have a pet (or pets) with special needs, that's for sure. They'll be fine, the pet sitter is the one I like so much and trust the most. It's just the getting ready, assembling all the instructions, meds, food, etc.
Anyway, it'll all work out...it is what it is, as my now-retired boss was fond of saying.
So I'll spare you all the details and just do what I like to do anyway: post a lot of snapshots.
Duck pics from the 22nd. I'd taken the day off and this was at the bus stop, after my hair cut. (My stylist works out of her own home.) As always, I think the snapshots are best viewed by clicking to enlarge and scrolling through.
This female was NOT happy to be pursued by three males. "No" means "no" even in duck language, but the guys just weren't getting the message. It's a bit hard to see the mourning dove, with the "noisy" background.
Blossoms have come and gone now, even though they were about 3 weeks late this year.
Benny, a 15-month old adoptee from our local humane society. He's learning to be calm around humans.
Nicki under one of the hostas. They're all big enough now to hide under, which delights the cats. That variegated shrub behind Nicki, whatever it's called, is settling in well and already starting to climb the old trellis.
A favourite perch is the outdoor cushion I toss onto the back step.
The irises are coming into full bloom now.
That's been my (snapshot) life over the past eight days. More of that and less chaos (at work) would be appreciated.
I hope your life is calmer than mine right now! :-)
Peace.

The photographs are entertaining and attractive, as always. The first one is a perfect head-on shot of the duck. It’s like he’s vaguely interested in humans but not enough to be either curious or alarmed. And the three drakes hoping to impress the hen look like contestants on an episode of the ‘Dating Game’.
I should know the common name of the variegated bush but it escapes me at the moment.
Enjoy your visit with your mom and hope the flight is smooth.
As always, I really enjoyed your stunning photos. I think my faves were the ones of the boys, but the ducks and blossoms are super, too.
Have a great time with your mom!
As for stress...I understand that we need some "stress," in healthy ways (or so I've read and heard). I just find I become very scattered and wound up when I have too much to juggle comfortably. I imagine many or most of us are the same, though we all have varying levels of tolerance for stress.
As for the trip, I'm just hoping for safe travels both ways!
Love your photos! I have a friend in Texas who has a female duck being followed by three males too. Wonder if there's a female shortage or if it's just boys being boys. Nicki and Derry look so happy to be out in their garden! Hope you have a wonderful time with your mom! Safe travels!
I think it's just boys being boys re: the ducks! Biology drives us all. :-)
Have a wonderful time with your Mom!
