The revolving door

The sun this morning, fuzzy but still amazing

The revolving door isn't in our office today; we just got notice that another AVP has left suddenly, effective this past Wednesday. No idea whether that was voluntary or involuntary. I knew the person to say hi and make idle chitchat; some years ago that person and their staff shared this suite with us. Gees, it's a revolving door around this organization.

Oh, I knew there was something I meant to post yesterday but forgot about, which is rather appropriate given what happened.

I keep a reusable water bottle by my bedside at night, as I take meds first thing in the morning when I wake up. On Wednesday morning I woke, no water bottle. No big deal, I realized I had left it on the bathroom counter, where it sits (empty and drying out) during the days. So I got up and shuffled to the bathroom, found the water bottle, but no lid. No lid anywhere, in fact. No lid stored in the bathroom cabinet, or under the vanity sink, not in my bedroom, either...For the life of me, I could not find what I did with that lid.

You know where it eventually turned up?

In the hall linen closet, beside the towels.

Do. Not. Ask. Me. Why.

At least I remember what the lid is for, if not where I'm storing it.

Peace.

Someone please tell me that the memory fog will clear at some point!

Oh, this is brilliant! I'm going to blame all future memory lapses and foolish things I do on the cats! 😁

Way to do it! It's their doings after all. Right? Right.

I've been doing similar things lately. I don't like. It's just so weird. I like the idea of blaming the kitties!

My company has been laying off in really big numbers yearly, sometimes twice a year, for the last 10 years. It's so nerve wracking.

I like the colors in the sun in that last picture!

Oh... do Kea! My mom (who lived with us for years) always did. She once insisted that the cats took her purse.

Unfortunately these things happen. And you're right, they say that it's not misplacing things, but forgetting what they're used for that can be a problem. What I do is put things away for safe-keeping and then don't remember where I put them.

It must be catching, as I've been finding myself standing in a room and wondering why I was there, or about to put something in the fridge that doesn't belong there. Those I can't blame on the cats...so instead I like to say my brain is full so I can't remember everything!

But those items that pop up in other areas of the house unexpectedly....all the way it must be the cats. Or a ghost?

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Well, at least you found the lid. We've lost parts of sets here ... so strange (and maddening)!
Kea said…
Absolutely! Couldn't possibly be my own absent-mindedness!

It's supposed to be attributed to peri-menopausal brain, and "they" say it passes. Trouble is, no one older (60s and up) ever says that the memory lapses do pass! :-D

LOL, I do too, both at home and at work. BTW, I love your comment about your mom! That was great. :-D

Ah, never thought of a (presumably friendly) ghost. :-)

I probably can find a way to blame the cats for all my memory lapses. They might not have opposable thumbs, but Tricky Nicki IS pretty clever! :-P
Kea said…
Oh, surely you can hold your cats responsible for those misplaced or lost items! :-)

Yes, remembering what something is for is half the battle... As for your work, your upper staff come and go as if they are working for the U.S. president.

Ha! Your comment cracked me up; thanks for the Monday morning laugh! (And it's true...sad, but true. LOL.)

Are you sure one of the boys didn't move the lid? I know Harrison is a thief and so we find random things around the house quite a bit!

Well, the door knob is quite high and one of them would need opposable thumbs to open it. Then there's the matter of putting the lid up on a high shelf. So really, I can't blame them for this, much as I'd like to! :-D
Your post came at a good time...at least for me :)
I've been fretting (a few years ago) that I have forgotten an appointment. Even after somebody reminded me I still can not recall if I went or not. I can't blame the fur nerds. I am blaming the insane work schedule.
Your sun photos are amazing.
Work changes can be so unnerving.
Sending good thoughts your way.

Yes, it's easy to forget what we've done or are supposed to do when we're juggling too many "balls" or when we're dealing with huge stressors in our lives, health issues, etc.

All these work changes make me want to get up and leave, but if at any point they want to get rid of me *without cause*, they'll have to pay me per our labour laws, thank you very much!
I re-read my comment-I meant to say a few hours ago instead of a few years ago-oops. Maybe I better take my vacation a bit sooner? :)
