Decking the Halls
For a "short week" (I'd taken Monday as a vacation day, with another amazing Value Village shopping trip), Friday sure has taken its sweet time rolling around.
I haven't snapped even one pic of the cats, mostly because it's pitch black when I'm leaving for work and almost pitch black now by the time I get home.
However, this has the advantage of being able to see some of the Christmas lights that people are decking their halls with.

Snapped this morning as I was walking part way to work.
I don't care if some think it's overkill and tacky, I like to look at an abundance of lights. No, I'm not fond of the old plastic decorations (though one house in my greater neighbourhood has a plastic snowperson family that keeps growing every year and is fun to see). But let's face it, Christmas really is the only time you can go all "Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation" and get away with it.
As for our office, a couple of weekend's ago I'd picked up a few decorations for the outside of my cubicle, during an awesome sale at Michael's Crafts.
My new boss liked it so much that she bought garland, wreaths and bows for all the cubicles, as well as bows for all the office doors.
She also bought this, below, for one of my co-workers, who really doesn't like (the commercialization and hype around) Christmas.
Meant to make her laugh, of course, which it did. You might notice a deliberate spelling "mistake," which is an inside joke.
So for the first time ever, we've decking the halls at work, which really lends a festive air to the otherwise bland, boring space.
And now we're all counting down the remaining work days until the holiday break, which for me is 10, not counting today (Friday the 7th). Maybe I'll actually get a chance to get out and take some "real" pics, if it's not bitterly cold and if we're not digging out of three feet of snow. :-P

What a difference between having a male and female boss! LET'S DECORATE!!! I guess it's because I'm female too that I think the decorations make it so much nicer too! Looks lovely and I know you are counting down to your time off. I'm sure it will be well spent!

I, too, like the look of an abundance of lights. My neighbour (also a former co-worker) does the whole nine yards, including music that one can listen to on the car radio. He also gives out candy canes on Christmas Eve and has a donation box for those wanting to contribute. I believe the donations go to the Cancer Society as his dad died a few years ago from that terrible disease.
My decorating was done today with the tree this morning, and a few other odds and ends this late afternoon. I probably would have stopped at the tree but my brother, his wife, and children will be stopping by tomorrow afternoon as my daughter and grandson are coming in as well. We'll have a quick visit, exchange visits, eat a few goodies, and just enjoy watching the little guy zoom around.
