A taste of autumn

I had a lovely visit with friends R & C in Brighton; a huge thank you to them both, R in particular. (L, if you read this, yes, I did tell her hello from you!)

We had a great time, driving all over the area, and taking in the fall colours. (Click to enlarge for best viewing.)

We stopped a lot, though many of my snapshots were taken from the car window as we were driving by. I'm in the middle of culling and editing the almost-700 snapshots I took!

Here are a few as teasers. I can't remember the last time I've seen such glorious autumn colours. Certainly in our city and immediate area there's nothing like this. Northumberland County is putting on an amazing display this year!

I came back to two cats with diarrhea, though both had been fine when I left. I have no idea what happened; stress? I'm working on getting them back to normal, will see how things go. They've been okay through today (Sunday), but I'm not expecting things to be resolved. Their issues definitely negated the feelings of relaxation I had from my visit, so I'm doing what I usually do when stressed: eating chocolate and indulging in retail therapy. :-P

Anyway, I will post other pics the next time, maybe some of the four-legged "friends" we made along the way.

Kim, happy to hear that you had a good visit with your friends. The pictures are great. But sorry about your coming home to cat problems. I would think the diarrhea was probably due to stress. Most cats don’t do well with change...

How totally beautiful those trees and colors are. Here there is almost nothing. The extreme heat for months, and a lack of rain (for once) seems to have done the colors in. I am very sad that the boys both got diarrhea! MY goodness...surely it is stress. They were fine when you left...and feeling better already it seems from what you said. Poor guys Poor you too.

I'll see how things are in the litter boxes tonight/tomorrow. Someone had thrown up their supper during the night, too, but at least that was in the unfinished basement. Things are calmer at the moment. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for stopping by! I certainly hope the boys' problem was only stress-related. I've had enough troubles with Nicki since May/June re: output, though, so while I will hope all will be well, nothing has been easy with him (and now Derry) for months. Oy!

Lovely pictures!
This year, we also have really nice foliage with great colour.
Some years have not been so vibrant.
Purrs for the boys.Hope it is not serious.
Our JJ has been vomiting a bit lately.
We need to watch that.

Oh that second photo is amazing! They all are but there are so many colors all in that one.

Sorry, the boys aren't feeling well. Hope it's just a temporary issue, resolved easily now that you are home with them. (Someone, Sasha I suspect, threw up this morning by the litter box just about the time I was going down to clean them. Their timing is great, isn't it?)

Beautiful trees! We are still waiting for ours to change...some are starting to make the transition. I don't think they will be as pretty as usual this year though. Hope the boys start feeling better soon for you!

I hope all is well with R !!!! fall there is awesome;I really like photo one... trees here have just started to turn; seems like a LOT of red this year, and if you know the "legend" of the wooly worm;

I don't know the legend, though I've heard other people mention it. I grew up with the legend that if the mountain ash trees are loaded with berries, it means a LOT of snow. All the mountain ash I have seen here are bursting with berries, so I expect a lot of shoveling this winter. Bleh!

Slippery elm bark might help, the real stuff you get at a natural foods store. Pricey, but you need only a couple of dollars worth to have a stash for a long time, as so little is used at a time. It helps Derry, and helps with vomiting for Nicki, though his diarrhea issues this spring/summer/fall were beyond its help. Under "normal" circumstances, though, slippery elm is a good digestive soother.

I envy R & C for having a vehicle and being able to get out and enjoy it! Or anyone who has a vehicle and can get out and do things. But I think all of Canada has its own beauty. :-)

The trees are gorgeous when you get out of the city. In town they're mostly brown, very drab, except for the maples and oh, the sumac this year is incredible too.
