"It's mine, all mine!"

 

I bought this catnip mat for the boys yesterday, while making a stop at the vet clinic. (The new mat is on top, an old one is on the bottom).

It was meant for them both, but Nicki has claimed it and has been very reluctant to relinquish it.

BTW, I've stopped feeding a couple of brands of chicken to the boys and things were better Friday/Saturday. We'll see how things go this week. I've discovered they both like Instinct salmon and Merrick salmon patés (grain-free)...enough to eat them once, anyway. We'll see if they eat them again! (Nicki already likes Instinct lamb and rabbit, even their chicken, and they both already will eat Merrick beef. I'm looking for options for Derry in particular, since he's fussier about canned.)


Also, I'm sending my thoughts and prayers to the "mom" over at Mickey's Musings. I've followed them for a long time and they have had several cats pass; now their most senior kitty, JJ, has joined them. Godspeed, JJ, and peace to your family.

You bought just the one mat? Someone was going to be left out. But Nicki has been having the digestive problems, so perhaps he deserves a little extra comfort. And good work on the chicken experimentation. Chicken seems to be a big problem for a number of cats.

There are three other catnip mats (older). Derry is not deprived. :-)

I don't know if the cheap brands of chicken were the culprit, it's just a one-day-at-a-time thing. With Nicki, it could be anything and everything. LOL.

Hope you can find a food they both enjoy and tolerate well. It can be so challenging at times. Love the new mat! Maybe you should have bought two :) I'm not sure sharing is in the cat vocabulary!

Glad to hear that the boys are feeling some better. Hope the change in foods is helpful. When I read of the issues you (and others) deal with, I feel so fortunate. Both Sasha and Saku don't seem to have any problems with their food...unless Saku eats too much and then it comes up.

The mat looks greats, especially with Nicki on it!

Nicki is so cute on his new mat! Glad you found some food they'll eat - at least once! Angel has been having allergies and scratching her head really bad and I'm sure it's from the food but she's so picky that I'm at a loss of what to do. She'll only eat Fancy Feast and even then she usually just licks it so anything other than pate is licked clean of the gravy while the rest of the food remains in the bowl. These cats have us wrapped around their paws!

Kim, I lost your email addy, but I wanted you to see my reply to your comment yesterday. I cut and now I'll paste it here. Kim, mine is too. Cast iron. I had it refinished but that only lasts a short while. I gave up and called Bath Fitter and they created a made to measure 'nother tub over the cast iron one. Tore off the old tile in the surround, and added insulation and dry wall and created the surround out of the same thing as the tub. Acrylic. I have had it since 2005 and it gleams like new. I keep it squeaky clean, yes, but you want to when you see how gleaming and beautiful it is. Try seeing if there is such an entity there in Canada.

Thanks for the reply re: Bath Fitter. We do have them here and if/when I do anything I probably will go through them. BUT...The townhouses are so POORLY made that I'm afraid the weight of the acrylic "tub" added to the weight of the existing tub will, over time, cause it all to go crashing to the floor below (it's upstairs). I remember seeing an old Mike Holmes show on HGTV where a young woman who had purchased a townhouse (same era as mine, same crappy-looking build as mine) had that happen. :-O
