Wordy Update on Wordless (for you) Wednesday
RE: the house repairs: It looks like they had replaced the gutter over the garage on Monday (as well as checked the attic for the location of the leaks), plus repaired my front and back downspouts. Not replaced them, but replaced parts of them and reattached the one at the front that was swinging free. They also replaced the broken part of the adjoining neighbours' back downspout, as the president of the company said last Friday that water would have been pooling there during the heavy rains, possibly causing my 18+ year basement leak.
Basement leak ongoing for 18+ years (only when the rain hits the back of my unit at the corner where it joins the next unit); possibly resolved, possibly not.
Yesterday they repaired the damaged siding from Halloween night (terrible wind and rain storm), and supposedly sealed up along the soffit as well (all the gaps). They did not address the huge buckle in the siding to the left of the spare bedroom window, when you're standing below (along the side of my unit, where the common walkway is) and looking up.
Siding torn October 31st, now repaired.
Huge buckle in siding not addressed, below. It looks bigger now to me than when I snapped the pic last fall, but maybe it depends on the angle you're viewing it from.
They still have to get up onto the roof and inspect it. They're running out of time this week, because we're expecting about 5 mm of rain on Friday...but 40 to 50 mm of rain on Saturday, then freezing rain/ice on Sunday. So if it's a roof issue (the leaking), it will not be a good situation. If the second leak was a siding issue, it MIGHT have been resolved.
Also outstanding is the repair to the front step, but that will have to wait until spring. Having my bathroom fan vented to the outside is a different issue entirely, one that I will pay privately for. I just need to have that arranged at some point, whether through the repair people the property management company uses or someone the president can recommend to me.
So that's where we're at!
I'll leave you with two cute Etsy purchases that are on their way to me. I saw these last week, two different shops, and succumbed to temptation.
I ordered the one below, with the purple beads, in green instead. Green and yellow being my favourite colours (not to wear, but for home decor accessories).
Peace.
