Ah, the anticipation
Not for Christmas, as my family is on the east and west coasts and I always find this season challenging*, but for the impending work break. Today is my last day until January 4th.
Our province might be facing a full lock-down, we'll find out soon enough, so it won't be quite the same break as usual, even for me, especially if transit is as drastically cut back as it was during the first wave. However, I will enjoy the hiatus from my job nonetheless, and will appreciate being able to do my morning indoor workouts at my leisure, without any "rush" to get to the "office" for 8 AM. (Oddly, it IS hard to get my butt upstairs and at the computer for 8 AM; I'm often scrambling and half dressed. LOL. Right now I can't even fathom returning to a "normal" commuting schedule!)
I don't think Derry would want me to return to "normal," either. I brought a cat stand into the "office" and have it beside my work table, with the hope that he curls up there, instead of planting himself between my keyboard and monitor. So far it's 50-50. Cuddles first, nap after.
I hope you're looking forward to something this holiday season as well. Take care; peace to all.
*There's going to be a maternal family Zoom chat on Christmas Day, set up by the only first cousin I sporadically keep in touch with, but haven't seen since early childhood. I hope to join in and "meet" other first and second cousins who are strangers to me, so I'm looking forward to that!

I've had trouble a couple of times with other (work-related) Zoom things, so we'll see. Typically we use Teams to connect virtually. I'll give it a go, at any rate.

As for Christmas, there's nothing in particular that I do. A lot of the day is be spent on the phone and texting, since family and friends are in different time zones, for the most part. I've always enjoyed spoiling the fur babies, though that's more fun when you have younger pets that really enjoy toys, or even just the paper and boxes, It's not the same with only Derry anymore, but we muddled through last year and will this year too. Some years I've gone to a friend's house for Christmas dinner, but it's been quite a while since I've done that. I do a dinner for myself all the same, usually chicken, since I'm not fond of turkey.
However you celebrate this year, I wish you a wonderful Christmas. Do stay safe and keep well.

As for me, I'm enjoying time at home it has been freezing last night and tonight again.
No wonder I slept so well between the cotton flannel duvet cover and fitted sheet.
The surgery made me weigh a ton... so heavy so I went to bed after my lunch/breakfast (it was my 1st meal since supper the day before. Pieter reprimanded me and said, get up otherwise you will not be able to sleep at night. So I got up around 6:30 PM and back in bed around 8:00 PM and slept like a rose... This morning was not too hectic, had to leave at 9:15 AM for my post-op and the one hour drive went smooth on the Interstate, both ways. Things were very well so I'm happy and now have to continue with drops in my eye (they burn like hell but it will be good!) and no bending with my head below the heart and no lifting of more than 5 lbs. Made us some chocolates from one pound of 70% cocoa dark chocolate with some wild honey and coconut creamer with unsweetened coconut, ground up hazelnuts and craisins. Pieter had a bowl full of dried apricots that I divided over the 15 round cavities of the Demarle form, poured the melted and mixed chocolate mass over it and tomorrow we start enjoying half of such a round with our noon cup of tea. Before Pieter takes his nap. Sometimes I've been napping with him and there is always a kitty that joins us...
The year will be passing by fast now! Glad I had prescheduled all my posts through January 10. Next will be three post with kitties, ours and those we cared for in Italy...

Your Zoom call actually sounds fun - an opportunity to meet and greet family members you've not met or only met infrequently.
To be honest, if there is another full shutdown I do hope it's over the Christmas break. Most people will be home anyway and perhaps it will slow the spread. The vaccine can't come soon enough for me.
