A wild night
It must have been a wild night for Derry, or a wild few seconds anyway, because when I came downstairs early this morning, this is what I saw:
Eight of his nip toys scattered, plus a ninth one off to the right, out of view.
Derry hardly ever gives them any notice, even when new or "renewed" in a baggie of catnip, so he was full of beans for a short time. :-)
I have no further progress to report on the bathroom reno, because we're still waiting for the vanity to come in. Until that happens, the guys can't proceed. In the meantime, I'm making do with the tub and toilet, and I have three other sinks to use in the house (kitchen, basement bathroom and basement laundry tub).
I did find a pretty (to me) shower curtain on Amazon, though:
I had ordered four shower curtains, returned two and am debating on the third one. The fabric of this one is the heaviest of them all (though still not "heavy"), and the colours are the nicest, not garish like the two I sent back were. I love to shop online, but it's hit and miss sometimes.
I found a nice, small brushed nickel waste basket at Walmart the other day; I think it will fit perfectly beside the toilet. It's quite heavy and is a great upgrade from the dollar store plastic waste basket I had in there before.
That's the thing I'm discovering about renovations: When the room is new, you don't want to put your old, worn-out thrift and dollar store stuff back into it.
I'm doing a month's free trial of Amazon Prime (finally, after many years of always clicking "no" when checking out), and I can see they hook you on the next-day delivery. LOL. I ordered some fabric storage baskets yesterday afternoon and got them before 11 AM today. Crazy. I'll probably pay for Prime for a month or two after my 30 days are up, while I'm shopping for the bathroom and for storage stuff, but after that I expect I'll cancel, as it won't be worthwhile. I did look at the Prime Video offerings (the free ones), but don't see anything that appeals to me, so I wouldn't keep it for that. Amazon is so big it's kind of scary...rather like Google. Big Data.
Oh, I spent one entire day working on campus this past week, Thursday. I had some things to print and I had an afternoon meeting. It was weird to be there, in an empty office. It actually took about three hours to get the shared desktop set up with security and software updates and get myself logged into everything and connected to the network printer, etc. I would have been more productive at home. LOL. Anyway, my two bosses were there, and another co-worker had to be there as well, so she both picked me up in the morning and dropped me off on the way home at the end of day, which was so kind of her. It was great to see them, but I'm not sure I'd do it again anytime soon. Not a full day, at any rate.
Derry out in the garden yesterday afternoon, before I cut the "grass" and tidied up.
We're having a retirement BBQ this afternoon for a long-time co-worker; her last day was June 30th. I think I'm still in the denial stage, actually. Anyway, our Assistant Director is hosting the BBQ and it will be nice to get together with everyone (just the seven of us), even though I'm sure some of us will shed a few tears. (I must remember to take Kleenex!)
That's about it for now. Except that the little feral cat didn't come yesterday morning or this morning, unfortunately. I had the food already dished out (wet and dry) and ready to put down, opened the door, and he (or she) wasn't there. I admit was taken aback, went out to look and call for him (today too), but nothing. Yesterday I'd hoped he had just been frightened off by something or someone, but today...Well, you never know, he might turn up. But we all know that the life of a feral cat is a difficult and usually short one. I won't give up hope, but I won't have any expectations, either.
That's a wrap for me today. I hope everyone, two-legged and four, is doing well. Take care!
Peace.

That shower curtain is so nice. It looks kind of like ours.
I only go in 2x/per month. I am now definitely fine with working from home! :)
Hugs to you, and scritches to Derry!
Love how expressive Derry's face is! And in his new box with chin scratcher; he looks darling.
MISS our kitties, this is our 9th night away from home and one more to come before I will be pulling into our driveway.
Got almost daily updates from their 'cat–sitter' and she has Kwekkie under her care as well.
No doubt they will turn into their usual magnet—mode once we're home!
Your shower curtain looks great! Yes, I'm also clicking the no button on Amazon. Had once the Premium but cancelled it soon.
Hugs,
Mariette
