Mancat Monday: Squeaks and Hisses

The feral cat has been waiting for me for the past couple of mornings, from his vantage point of underneath a nearby parked car. He alternately squeaks and hisses at me, but he doesn't go too far, having quickly come to understand that I have his breakfast. (I had to zoom in with the phone for the snap below.)

He's got something stuck in his tail and there's a small patch of something else stuck to his fur (looks like a surface thing, not a skin issue) on his right haunch. Poor little man.

I've seen him only in the mornings, would be happy to feed him supper too, if he came by and I saw him. When he finishes eating he heads off in a specific direction, so I guess he has his territory.

As a bittersweet contrast, here's MY mancat late yesterday. He was pretty clingy all Saturday, but had settled down a bit by Sunday.

I'm just waiting for the guys to show up, they should be here around 8 AM. I think they'll only be sanding and mudding the drywall patches today and tomorrow, so the disruption should be brief.

The flooring is here now, but they can't install it until the drywall repairs are complete. I took a piece of the flooring with me on Saturday and chose my paint colour, so we're getting there!

BTW, that tub/shower unit has a light in its "ceiling"!

I didn't even clue in until Friday evening when I went upstairs to clean it, so I could actually shower. They have it wired so that when you flip on the bathroom light the shower light turns on too. I thought that was the greatest thing since sliced bread. LOL.

Oh, I know it's not the swanky tile that so many people prefer, but I wanted something that takes minimal cleaning effort and is as close to zero maintenance as possible. And this thing cleans up like a dream! I had expected to be scouring for an hour before being able to shower, but the entire thing wiped down in about twenty minutes, inside and out. Woohoo!

The flooring, below. It's a "luxury" vinyl tile from Home Depot.

The contractors use Dulux paint, so that's the store I went to on the weekend. I brought home several samples, but didn't want to get bogged down with dozens of paint chips. Out of five choices, I liked this one the best, a grey-green:

If it turns out I don't like it, I can repaint the bathroom myself at some point, it's a small space and wouldn't take much effort.

I have a towel bar set on order from Home Depot as well, and shower curtains from Amazon. I'm getting excited about it, it's been a long, long wait!
