Mancat Monday: An update on Derry's test result

Below is how I usually feel on Mondays, especially this week with a particular work "thing" on both Wednesday and Friday. (I had fantasies of quitting/retiring before we had to do this unnecessary and unwanted team thing again, but alas, it's not to be.)

On a good note, I got Derry's fructosamine results back from the vet today:

The result was 382, down from 720 in September, which is terrific. The reference range, as listed above, is 143 - 373, but I also see at the end that under 405 is "good regulation."

So fingers and paws are crossed that this continues.  🤞🙏

Derry wasn't cranky, below, he was making lovey eyes at me and wanting cuddles.

Isn't this the truth, below?! Every time I clean! I should be so lucky to get five minutes out of it. Ha!
Take care, all.

Yesterday evening's wispy clouds.

Sweet Derry (happy his tests were GOOD!) ... love the second cartoon. Am reminded of when I clean the litter-loo box, June sits in the doorway watching intently. Box all cleaned up, floor swept up. Off I go to dump the "bag" of her "leftyovers", I get a sideways glance from her and in she goes, then out she comes .... shaking her paws to scatter litter-glitter all over the newly swept bathroom floor with a now, very satisfied look that seems to say "this is how it's supposed to be!"

We are so glad Derry had good test results ! Purrayers that this continues.
That's really terrific news, here's hoping it stays in the good category. Love the funnies. When we vacuum 10 minutes later it looks like we forgot.
Dearest Kim,
So glad for reading this before I put my chicken rice dish in the oven!
Great news and who knows what affects our kitties—stress related.
It is a lot of guess work and we 'know' them rather well but they can't express themselves the way we would love them to be able to.
But this sounds very promising and hoping that your work is not affecting you negatively as it always reflects on our kitties!
Big hugs,
Mariette

Derry's new fructosamine is so much better! I'm so happy he is improved, and I hope he continues this way.
Great great news for you and Derry. And yes there are days that I would like to crawl under the bed with Precious and stay there. And I am retired already. What does that say about me? Have a good week, it has been warm here for a couple days but it's going to change again tonight.

Ohhh i'm with you on team work things or functions. I now just offer to work and don't go. Derry is looking good.
I realized I don't quite understand with Derry and diabetes. Are you having to give him daily insulin and will that continue indefinitely? Sorry, Lynn
Kea said…
Lynn, he hasn't had any insulin since the half-unit on the morning of October 15th. His numbers are too low for any, his glucose would have to read in the mid-teens before it would be safe to give him some. It's a wait and see game whether the food change will have made a permanent difference or whether he'll need insulin in the future.

This is not a social function, so I don't have a choice. It's a half day on Wednesday and then work on the project ourselves on Thursday, then a frickin' all-day "sprint" on Friday. (I rue the day that one of my co-workers brought a book in about work "sprints" a few years ago; they're awful, IMO. Sprints should be relegated to track and field, period!)

Glad Derry's numbers improved.

Hooray for Derry's much better numbers! We have our paws and fingers crossed things keep going well. That first cartoon resonates with me. I guess that's funny and not funny at the same time.

Oh, work; don't get me started. What isn't pointless ir bothersome... Anyway, it's wonderful news about Derry. I still think you are on to something in thinking diet played a big role in his incipient diabetes.

Oh I am so happy with the news on Derry! And I feel exactly the same way as your first cartoon!
So happy Derry got good test results! Keep up the good work!

So happy that Derry responded well to his treatments and is on the mend. I hope the numbers continue to stay low. Is he off insulin now? Are you able to manage with just diet?
I am very happy for you and Derry that his numbers were so hugely improved.
I'm so glad to hear that Derry's numbers have improved! Love the cartoons :)
