Vacation Day 4: In Stanley Park (part 1)
On Sunday June 4th we all went to Stanley Park for the afternoon. (Click the pics to enlarge for better viewing.)
We walked only a bit of one of the paths, along the "Lost Lagoon," as far as the Rose Garden and back. I would have preferred to have spent the afternoon walking far more than that, but Dad has congestive heart failure and, while doing well on meds, is slow walking. Also, we were meeting up with friends of theirs in the Park, so there wasn't time to explore. (I should have rudely left them and gone off on my own--lol.)
If someone knows what kind of duck this is, below, please leave a comment. Some sort of merganser? She had several ducklings, one of which kept zooming off on its own to explore. I'm not sure h/she will make it to adulthood, as the eagle population is high. Venturing away from mama when so young isn't exactly the wisest thing to do.
Below: On the return, walking back the way we had come. (I hoped to take a different route, but oh well! Next time, if/when I get there again.)
This bridge reminds me so much of the bridge in some of Monet's famous paintings. All it needs is a waterlily pond below. :-)
In the interest of keeping the post a bit shorter than the previous one(s), I'll leave it here for today. Next up will be the Rose Garden, then the part of the waterfront we walked along, and finally some pics from the 21st and 28th (roof) floors of a condo building adjacent to the Park. (Right across the street, in fact.) A friend of Dad and his wife has a small one-bedroom condo on the 21st floor and she took me up for a view of the city skyline. It definitely was impressive, but I much prefer the view from the Lost Lagoon. :-)

Well, you at least were there and got a fair glimpse of the beautiful nature.
Yes, knowing too well that slow walking—heart related issue...
But we always can go back for 'more' and photos will bring back the lovely memories!
Hugs,
Mariette
I love the bridge and heron. Yay for you new found hobby
I say the mystery bird is merganser too
Hugs Cecilia
Those ducks were mighty cute!
Stanley Park is so interesting. I don't recall the bridge at all - so obviously we walked on a different path. You'll have to return someday so you can visit more of it.
