Scenes from a waterfront park

I snapped these on September 19th, before an appointment. The clinic is located in the Woolen Mill, and there's a lovely 1.5 km waterfront trail there. 



Below: The LaSalle Causeway is up to allow the tour boat to pass through. The Royal Military College of Canada is in the background.







Below: If anyone can identify this duck, let me know. (Click to enlarge the snapshot.) The closest I could come is a female or non-breeding male ruddy duck (wide bill, a bit of white on the cheek). Duck #12 at https://birdwatchinghq.com/ducks-in-ontario/. But I'm not certain; I've never seen a duck like this before.






It's a beautiful spot, great for birders. I had to taxi back and forth; it's not really accessible by bus. I certainly couldn't find my way without GPS, it's in a really old (and very rough) part of the city, with small/short winding streets that twist this way and that.

If I need to return at some point for another appointment, I'll be sure to take my camera again.

Wonderful pictures of the water and all. The duck is a female Shoveler. The male can trick people into thinking it is a male Mallard if not looking close enough and noticing how the duck if feeding under water. I learned duck identification years ago when I was starting bird watching. They sit still the longest and if you have good binoculars, they can be easier to find their markings. The close up of the water lily flower is beautiful. As always, I enjoy your outdoor photos even though the baby kittens were delightful. Lynn and Precious XX

Very nice photos! I get a chuckle out of the orange feet on some of the ducks.
Shame that the trail isn't easily accessible. It looks like there would lots to see and photograph.

I'm glad Lynn was able to identify the duck - I had no idea.

I agree with Lynn. I thought it was a female mallard at first until I looked more closely and saw the longer beak.

Such beautiful photos, Kim! I'm very impressed that Lynn was able to identify that duck. I've never seen one like it, either.

Kim the first photo of the duck is amazing. Perfect rippling water and gorgeous view of his beautiful feathers.
I also enjoyed the Causeway and drawbridge.
