Kitchen Reno Day 2

This is where things stood at the end of Thursday, reno day 2:

That little separate cabinet, second pic, isn't quite what I thought it would be, I was expecting a wider pullout and narrower drawers, but I think this will work better. I like that the drawer unit has more room than I anticipated, and the narrow pullout is intended for cutting boards, cookie sheets, etc.

The upper corner cabinet is wider and deeper than I expected, too, so I'll need to figure out what to do with that. They can install a two-tier lazy Susan, and I'll look at that option. I thought I would lose all the upper part of the cabinet for storage, but the installer (who has just arrived) told me that there would still be a top shelf, as the lazy Susan unit is only 30-inches high. So that actually might be workable, having two tiers of that, plus the upper shelf. The salesperson is ordering it in for me to look at, and will keep it in the showroom if I choose not to go with it.

The countertop template person comes on Monday morning, then it will be a couple of weeks before the counters are ready for installation.

The electrical work is being done on Wednesday. I need a separate outlet for the new over-the-range microwave, am having a light installed under the cabinet above the sink, getting all the kitchen outlets replaced, and having three other outlets installed elsewhere in the house.

I'm going to do my best to get some paint this weekend and do the kitchen ceiling before they start any finishing work. (I'm a very messy painter!) The walls will wait until the patching is done and the backsplash is installed.

So it promises to be another busy week ahead, and while I find the chaos, upheaval, and dirt to be stressful, I'm keeping the end goal in mind and just taking a few deep breaths along the way!

it’s going to be well worth it though, and when it’s
all said and done, you’ll have to treat yourself to
a special meal in the new kitchen, be it cooked
by you, or…just doing up dishes ‼️😺💚

Kim they are excellent workers...they know their stuff and are good at it. I have a wee space for cookie sheets too and love it and I have a lazy susan which I didn't have before and I love that too. Good luck with painting and thank you for sharing this joourney with us
Hugs Cecilia
PS lovely bloom too
I'd say this is a good cabinet store to be willing to bring in a product just to see if you really want it and if not, you do not have to buy! The cabinets do look to be nice and bright in a room with no windows and a refreshing feeling. Feel sorry about the painting because it is one thing I will never do again. Paint. Hope it goes smoothly and don't fall off the ladder.
It will look lovely when it is finished. I will be away for 2 weeks so should see a big difference when I come back.

Oh, how exciting to see the progress so quickly. I'm sure it doesn't feel that way to you though. It sucks having to wait for the counter tops - 2 weeks seems like a long time.

It's nice you're seeing how you'll be able to use the space and can make minor adjustments as you go along. My brother and his wife have one of those cabinets for cookie sheets, etc., and I always wanted one. I've had to make do with the dollar store racks to store them in a lower cabinet. It works but isn't quite as nice.

The renovation will be so lovely when finished!
Well, that's sure progress and I'm sure it will be really nice when it's all done!
Dearest Kim,
It all is starting to look nice!
Our cabinets don't look that nice after 33+ years.
Bet now your heart starts beating faster in anticipation of the completion.
The long wait is always the hardest I find!
Big hugs,
Mariette

Even though things are a bit crazy now, we bet it will be great when it is done. It sounds like the cabinet folks are working hard to make sure you are happy, which is wonderful. Good luck with the painting!

It seems like nothing brought into a home ends up looking quite the way one thought it would. On the other hand, the way it turns out is rarely worse than anticipated. These changes are looking good, and I think you will be pleased. Exciting times, eh? Just keep breathing.

Looking forward to seeing how it looks when it's all finished.

BTW - what is that pretty flower?

I am so glad I got here to see what has happened with the reno. I like it all!! I am surprised that the counter tops are taking such a time. Mine were ready when the reno started...that was in 2006 though.
