Monday Mancats

The first is Stewie, whom I didn't even recognize, the store cat at one of the Pet Valu locations. I had stopped in yesterday to get Leonard's treats, saw this fellow and thought it was a new store cat. Stewie has lost a LOT of weight and looks great! (Intentional, not because he has a medical issue.)

He was keeping his distance from a woman and her dog.

The second mancat is Leonard, obviously, from this morning. He's such a sweet boy. What a mooch!

As for the kitchen, it's coming along. The cabinets are in, the door pulls are all on, and the fridge and stove have been moved back into place. I spent Friday evening and both Saturday and Sunday afternoons organizing my most-used items, which did require a run to Dollarama for storage bins. I still have quite a few things to find a home for, things I rarely use but don't want to donate (wine glasses, glass cookware, etc.)

The pics are from Friday when the installer was still here, before the fridge and stove were put back.

I'm pleased the over-the-range microwave doesn't protrude nearly as much as I thought it would.

Below is my "pantry" cabinet, not yet installed in the small alcove. The wall behind it, where the electrician removed a couple of outlets last week, is being repaired, and I will have to touch that area up with a couple of coats of paint before the cabinet can be put in place and fixed to the wall. I think I'm most excited about this, though, because it has three deep interior shelves plus the deep drawer. I will make good use of it!

As for the electrical work, the guy was here last Wednesday for the entire day and still wasn't able to finish. I had him switch out all the old kitchen outlets for new ones, he had to add an outlet for the microwave, and I've been having additional outlets installed as well. The upper hall one still remains to be done and he'll be back with another electrician to do that (have to go up into the attic to run the wires down), as well as "trim out" the kitchen once the tiled backsplash is done.

So we're getting there! I can see the light at the end of the renovation tunnel now, even though it'll be a couple of weeks or so before the counters and sink can go in and before the tiling is done. I hope by mid-June all will be done, leaving only the painting to be dealt with (the dining/living area, upstairs hall and stairwell, and one bedroom).

One thing always leads to another when it comes to home renos!

Take care, everyone, and have a great week. I'm SO looking forward to our upcoming long weekend!

Stewis is a handsome Pet store Cat. What beautiful markings.
Leonard is lucky to have you as his treat lady.

Kim I 100% love every choice and selection you have made for your new kitchen.

So crisp and white and clean maybe you should start a
Kooking with Kim show on HGTV

Love the cat pics... and your kitchen is getting there. Know you will enjoy it when it's all done.
The kitchen is really coming together! I am sure all the hours the workers are there, and the days when they are not, do drag along with anticipation. The stairwell to paint! Do not envy you that job. Bad enough ceilings and bedrooms. Nice you still get a bit of kitty fur to cheer you along. Both kitties are handsome of course. No cat is not in my world. Have a great long weekend ahead. Lynn and Precious XX

Stewie and Leornard are both adorable! Good on Stewie slimming down...he could teach me a thing or two.

The kitchen is looking fabulous! It's amazing how much stuff we stuff in the cabinets, isn't it? While some of it gets used infrequently, we still need it - for me, it is Christmas tins for baking. I have far too many. :)
Such sweet kitties! Your kitchen is looking really nice and I know you'll be excited when it's all done!
Dearest Kim,
Looks like Leonard is a true love–bug! And buying treats for him yielded another bonus with Stewie.
WOW, your kitchen looks so elegant and plain that it will be a joy to work in and easy to clean.
It might take long but in the end you will be oh so proud of all your choices and carefully thought over decisions!
That microwave is a great one, so simple but elegant.
Hugs,
Mariette + Kitties

I'd say it's coming along more quickly than I had expected it to. And it's looking great - I could barely tell there was a micro-wave oven there, it fits so snugly. Very nice.
Those are some pretty kitties. Good luck with your home improvements

I love seeing the progress of the kitchen's reno! And I sure love seeing the two cats. Beautiful of course, as Kitties always are.
Leonard is one lucky feline to get treats for visiting :)
The kitchen reno looks like it is coming along nicely!
