Still here, kitchen should be done next week

Hi all, I'm still around, just with nothing to "say."

The lilacs have peaked and are on the way out now.

The kitchen could have been finished this week, but I had a work conflict, had to be on campus for the day the counter people wanted to come in. So they  will be here on the 30th and the backsplash tiling will be done on the 31st, along with the entryway floor.

The irises are also at their peak now.
After that, it's just the extra work I'm having the cabinet installer do for me privately, and the painting I need to do. (I wanted to hire that out, but I haven't called anyone yet.) Then I can start to clean up and put things back to rights.

It's been so hot lately that my bleeding heart is just about done, very early this year.

George (not Leonard, Leonard is the name of the missing brother!) still comes almost daily for treats, sometimes multiple times (because he knows what a soft touch I am). The grey and white cat with the protruding tongue showed up one day recently too. He's not feral, he was happy to have scritches, and he's not treat motivated (he ate them, but not right away, unlike George, who swallows treats whole as quickly as possible). So the grey/white one either has a home, or he's being cared for by others.

Some of my perennials are starting to bloom.

Work is work. I'm entering my "stupid busy" time of year, though I like to keep in mind that if it's my position that axed in the next fiscal year, this will be the last time I have to do do any of these loathed annual projects. Ha!

Irises on campus this week.

It's been a very difficult, sad week for some friends and for a work colleague (someone in another department); I won't get into any of that. But I'm glad it's Friday, happy to have a glorious sunny day without the humidity we had a few days ago.

I hope everyone has something to smile about! Take care and I'll definitely be posting pics of the kitchen when it's all done.

you will need to have a …as mackerull would say, a perch pizza pie partee when the
kitchen is finish‼️‼️ thanx for sharing the flower photos; still say you should
submit your work…it’s awesome…might bring you in a few bazillion dollars…never

The flowers are beautiful. We have been away since early May so were not able to keep up with happenings.

Lovely ... stay happy, healthy.
Dearest Kim,
Hard to believe it is almost the end of May... time is flying fast!
WISH the lilacs would feel happy here but it is too hot—miss their fragrance.
Your bleeding heart and the hostas look very lush.
And your white Columbine is a dream.
Irises when planted in masses look stunning.
Hugs,
Mariette + Kitties

Kim I am cheering after reading you are seeing light at the end of the reno Tunnel. It is a very trying experience but it will be worth it.

What beautiful blooms. Hugs Cecilia
I guess at this rate, with interruptions, your kitchen may be going as slowly as you had hoped it would not. Main thing is for it to be done right and your way. Love hearing about friendly George! And the other kitty being so friendly to you. Your patio area is loaded with plants! My 2 bleeding hearts were very puny this year, after 10 years of being so big. I am now going to fertilize them. I have never before, but they are over Angel Seney and I hope not to lose them. I just love iris and their perfume. Good luck with the work flow. Lynn and Precious xx

Lynn, I figured the kitchen would take a month or two all in, so I'm right on schedule! 🙃

Hooray for nearing the end of the kitchen reno! I'm looking forward to seeing the photos of the finished project.

Those kitties have it figured out - treats and scritches are "purrfect".

I do hope your position isn't elminated in the fall. :o Your back garden looks lush and green.
I know you sure will be glad to have things starting to feel normal again.

Getting closer to finished all the time. And the garden is looking very nice. Hot there? We haven't had much of warm yet, never mind hot. That's all right; I can wait.
Happy news that the renovations are almost done!
The flowers are beautiful ♥
