In a lull...sort of

The installer, who is doing extra work for me, was here last Thursday evening and then Friday afternoon to do the entryway flooring (same as the kitchen). It looks good, though I still have the floor covered in tarps, as my hall closet needs the bi-fold door put on and the basement door replaced (pending). I was cross about the extra dings in the walls that needed to be patched afterward, though! He's very hard on the drywall!

Below, George (a neighbour's cat for those who might be new to the blog) doesn't care about the renos, he just wants his Fancy Feast and Greenies.

The installer has a full schedule this week, so I'm not expecting him out to finish the downstairs. I hope he'll be able to get things done before the end of the month, though!

In the meantime, I've been continuing the painting. What else would I do with my Sundays? 🙄

This past weekend I ended up painting the lower hallway, which wasn't in my "plan." But because I'd had the old doorbell box device removed from the wall, there was a large spot to patch/sand/patch/sand and then paint. The paint I'm using (same brand and colour) has a different sheen from that of the previous paint, so I sucked it up (grumbling...okay, it was HBO words...all the way) and just redid the entire hall. Two coats on the long wall, one coat on the rest of it, since it was the same shade going on. All my patches look like cr*p, but hey, I'm not a professional and I did the best I could. The installer's patches are no better, IMO!

Lovely morning sky, below, on June 7th.

So while I'm in a lull with the rest of the work being done, I haven't been idle. I'm actually looking forward to a weekend without painting, as I've done it three consecutive weekends. It would be nice to oh, I don't know, get out of the house for something other than painting supplies and groceries.

Below, everyone's roses are gorgeous right now!

We have a bonus holiday on Friday June 28th, the weekend before Canada Day on July 1st, so I've booked that first week of July off. Four vacation days for a total of ten days away from the work computer. Heaven. I hope to get away on at least one day trip, weather permitting. (It's not much fun to go somewhere if it's a deluge of rain.)

I also will have all the new doors to paint, plus the bathroom door I didn't bother to paint two years ago, when I had it replaced during the reno then.

OMC, I hate painting! I can't express that sentiment strongly enough! LOL. (Just had to vent for a moment. I'm okay now. Sort of.)

So the renos are in a lull this week. I still have the shop vac sitting next to the couch, still have some disruption and mess both downstairs and upstairs. Not the kitchen though!  😊

The peonies are also glorious right now. May and June are such wonderful months!

Take care, all, I hope it's a good week for everyone.

Dearest Kim,
Well, some day it will be all done and behind you!
George looks cute and loves his treats.
The roses in your neighborhood are looking their best.
So, life is good and you look forward to some days off...
Hugs,
Mariette + Kitties
You are certainly one crazy busy person. I do not envy the painting whatsoever. However I'm proud of you for doing all of it yourself. When it's done and over, and it's about the month of November and you're finally just over the whole thing, you will look around and just be delighted. It's delightful that you've given us some beautiful flowers to look at and of course that handsome George. Glad to hear you're going to have some time off in just a few weeks and I do hope you get to get out for a trip or a visit somewhere. Lynn and Precious XX
The flower shots are beautiful.
Thank goodness George is still getting his treats!

If your patches look as good as the professional's maybe you should go into business... Ten days off will indeed be a delight for you, and I wish you serenity for them - aside from the painting.

John, both our patches look terrible. I hope he does a better job in his own home, or that his wife does!

Lynn, right now November is probably about right. 🙄😆
Dang, you really are busy, busy, busy and then some. I hope you do get a bit of a break. I dislike painting too. The flowers sure are pretty.

Oh my goodness, your reno didn't stop with the kitchen. I don't mind painting, BUT I'd be annoyed if the workman made the job harder for me.

I hope the contractor gets back and finishes his work, so you can finish yours. Just 17 more days until your vaca...I remember those count downs. :)

Ha. Look at George, posing for those snacks. :)

Those peonies and roses are beautiful, and that sky, too. Sorry to hear the installer dinged up the drywall, and that you're having to do all that painting. We're right with you not at all enjoying that task. Here's hoping you can get some good weather - and time outside - during your break. Hugs!
wavez two ewe george N pleez ta tell kim now that her kitshunz a done deel 😺

Kim dang I'm sorry your freshly painted walls have dings.
I hope not too deep and that the remainder of the work will be completed soon.

I am a lousy painter did some in our first home. Not in the current house. Neither of us want nor need to be on 8' ladders. Downstairs ceilings are 9'.
We just had some painting and powerwashing done outside
and the deck washed and stained. Very happy with the work. We need interior painting but were waiting til we found someone excellent. We will be calling them back
Hugs Cecilia

PS the flowers were beautiful....
That was nice of George to give you his company even if it was looking for treats. You have been working so hard you deserve a few days off. I don't think I have met anyone who actually enjoys painting!
George is so handsome!

I also hate painting. It just seems like it never ends. We still need to paint some rooms in our house, but keep putting it off because we both hate it so much. I hope you get to enjoy your time off.

I detest DETEST painting and gladly (sorta) pay someone to do it. George looks fabulous! Handsome and healthy.
