Trivial things
I tend to feel a bit guilty (maybe not quite the right word) for posting about life's trivialities when there is so much tragedy and suffering in the world. As if only the Big Things count, when of course life is made up of mostly day to day routines, the little things.
Below: Friday's late evening sky.
Regardless, here are a few little things from the past week:
Yes, I did another round of decluttering. Eight boxes, one giant contractor bag and one extra-large garbage bag filled with stuff I really don't need/use. I was spurred on by John's recent posts about packing for his impending move, and my own impending (temporary) packing for the floor reno in a few weeks.
As you can no doubt tell, I spent most of the weekend painting, this time some of the new interior doors that were installed in the summer.
I got the basement door and the hall bifold door done on Saturday, though admittedly only the outside of the bifold door was painted. I can't remove it myself to paint the inside of it, so left it as is (came primed, of course). Either I can try some other time (not going to happen) or the next owner can do it if they really want to. (It's a very small, tight space with no light, hard to see/work in.)
Then yesterday I spent half the day painting the two back room doors upstairs. I really didn't think it would take so long to paint them, but those panels (standard 6-panel doors) are surprisingly fiddly and tedious to do.
I'm off after the 4th, have two full weeks of vacation, so will do the bathroom door, linen closet door, and office door during the time off. The master bedroom (now guest room) door will wait, I think, until the flooring installers remove the carpet. I got paint all over the old carpet in the two back rooms yesterday, but I don't care about that. However, for some reason I do care about getting paint on the much newer bedroom carpet. Illogical, since it's going to be torn out anyway, but there it is. And no, it doesn't matter how many drop cloths I put down, I'm incredibly messy. Witness my hands. LOL. And as much paint as I had on them yesterday, I had more all over my feet!
BTW, that teal-ish thing lying on the floor and covered in paint is a heavy-duty work apron my mom made me many years ago, probably almost 20 years now. It's served me well!

So there really hasn't been anything Big here this past week--for which I'm thankful, truth be told (unless it's something Good/Happy/Positive Big!).
And today, Monday, is already a good day -- I didn't start it crying or crabby, as I typically start Mondays (most work days, in fact). Perhaps because I know I just need to hang on till the end of Friday and then can take a breath and forget, at least for a couple of weeks, the endless political bs that's been taking place at the university for quite a long time now.
Take care, all, and have a lovely week.

Give George an extra brush stroke from me. Angel Madi and I did enjoy brushing routine. I kept her brush in a drawer by the couch. She would often stand in front of it meowing gently.

Just a quick comment as I'm 5 days behind due to not having had Power due to Hurricane Helene.
But we're grateful!
George loves being near you...
Hugs,

I'm excited for you to have two whole weeks off, and hope it will be glorious and restorative. Oh, and say hi to George for us. :)
Hugs!
Good luck with the new flooring project. AND most especially enjoy your vacation (which according to my math you're in the midst of).
P.S. I think George would like to move in. :)
