Fabulous Friday

I write "fabulous" because it's seemed like a lonnnggg work week and I'm happy to welcome the weekend!

Dad was released from the hospital last Sunday afternoon, and he's been at home resting since. I would be surprised if he recovers to his previous activity level, though. Perhaps, but if so, it will take some time. He lacks a good appetite now, and that, coupled with the inactivity while he recuperates, translates to frailty in my mind.

The snapshot above and the two below are from a park by one of our library branches, right across from the mall.

I'll be on vacation as of next Wednesday, and while I had lined up a number of things to do with Dad while he was here, I now am reverting to plan B, which will be me making a couple of day trips to nearby areas, if Via Rail is offering suitable times to and from. I'll visit friends for a few days as well, later in my time off. If the weather abruptly turns rainy, I'll have to come up with a plan C!

Most of the pics below are from the same park, same morning. The last, the maple turning red, is in our neighbourhood (not in our complex, though). The colours are early this year, perhaps because of the (ongoing) drought.

Below: Jake, parking himself on my doorstep. That was after his first serving of Fancy Feast. I've been wondering if he's been abandoned, he's around so much...but then, I won't see him for a day or three. I think I'm being played for a sucker.

So, nothing really to note at my end. I'm dismayed by how grumpy...okay, surly...I am these days, at least while at work. I need the time away!

Below: Sunrise a couple of mornings ago.

That's it for me; take care, all, and have a lovely weekend!

I am glad to hear you are still taking the longer vacation time even though unfortunately your Father will not be able to visit. Maybe the time off will make November fly by in time for us to think on Christmas then. I just am enthralled by the flower photos. Every one is just perfect. And I see Jake is also purrfectly content. We have started feeding a feral female cat. I really don't like to start this but she showed up last Fall as a kitten and has survived only to now be nursing. Don't know how many or where but she is no longer afraid to wait for me to get the bowl of dry food topped off with water, in case she has bad teeth. But I do not stay close or try to pet. Enjoy your time away for home office/work and have some well deserved rest and fun. Lynn and Precious XX

I'm glad your dad is recuperating at home now, and he will definitely need some time to catch up. But he was in such good shape before, I'm certain most of that will stick. As for the trees, we've had more moisture than usual this summer, so our trees, though showing some yellow, are behind time for changing.
Prayers to your Dad. Those are pretty flowers and a very handsome Welcome Cat.
I am glad your dad is home and hope his recovery continues well. The flowers and trees are lovely. I hope your plan B vacation goes well and gives you time to recharge.

Kim, I guess I missed the post where your dad got ill and couldn't come for the visit. I'm sorry. I went back and read that one. But glad he is doing well. As for being an orphan at some point, it's true that even when we're adults when everyone in your immediate family is gone, it is a strange feeling...
I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. I hope that he makes a full recovery. The photos are lovely. I especially like the tree in full autumn colour. The garden in front of the library looks amazing.
Jake looks so comfortable and cute that I don't think I would mind playing a sucker. Enjoy our time off, whichever plan it it ends up being.
