Nothing lasts forever

Well, my 2011 32-inch Sony Bravia TV bit the dust today. 😒
 
 
I didn't realize it was that old until I googled the model number to see what might be wrong. (I'd already unplugged and rebooted everything, in case the problem was at my cable company's end. And yes, I have my internet and TV via our cable company, though the WiFi router is my own, because their router was crappy.)
 
Soooo...I've just ordered a 43-inch open-box 2025 Sony Bravia from Best Buy Canada, with delivery in a couple of days. A totally unexpected and definitely unwanted expense. I know most people have gigantic TVs today, but my space is small and I don't need one wall taken up entirely by a television. As it is, I'm sure the new one will seem quite large in comparison. At least it will be a "smart" TV, so I'll be able to stream my BritBox and PBS programs on something larger than my phone. If I can figure out how to set things up....😬
 


 
Aside from that, I'm hanging in and enjoying the Spring flowers and sunshine, as well as the cottontails, as you can tell from the snapshots above and below. Best. Time. Of. Year. (For me!)

Good grief! You have just made me realise how old ours is! We bought it in 2012 for the Olympics held in London, so only a year newer than yours. I set ours up because I read instructions and Ivor doesn't. It is a smart TV but they have advances so much since then, It is big, but not huge and fits in nicely between the wall and a bookcase. If we get a new one in the future it will have to be the same size.

We just start a 43-in smart TV about 2 months ago. We had talked about it but her own TV was working fine. However our cable company let us know that once the cable box broke it could not be replaced. Everybody is streaming only. I can't say one way or the other how I feel about the smart TV is it smarter than I am. You're much more tech savvy so you should not have any issues. I so love your pictures today. A replay of what we had here just two weeks ago and now all gone. This morning is pouring down rain and starting Wednesday night we are going back to below freezing for a week at night. Once again spring has not sprung . When it does spring it'll probably be in June when it's supposed to be the first of summer.

must be the year for TVs to fry…earlier this year my …sylvania…analog…23 years young bit the dust after a power surge hit it…. we get crazed winds here.
took me what seemed like hours to get it out of and off the cubby hole
on the tv stand….that sucker musta weighed 100 pounds or more…opted for a NON SMART ( like me and all things tech ) ‼️😸 one, so sorry, cant offer any
advice on set up😜😜😜😜‼️🐾💚

that was a very well made TV from 2011. WOW!! I hope you enjoy your new one and it provides years of great service.
The 43" screen will make a big difference.

Wow, you have flowers? We're way behind here. And speaking of way behind, I watch all my movies on a tv so old it has a picture tube at the back. That's fitting, since most of the movies I watch are from the 1950s and '40s...

The old television certainly doesn't owe you anything, and I hope the new one behaves itself for an even longer time period. I had bought a 40" television back in 2009, and I think I replaced it just before I sold the old house.
I did laugh at Carole's comment, as I need my adult kids to help with hook-ups. I'm sure I could figure it out but it would take me a lot more time. Good luck!

I got a new smart tv last year and it was easy to set up. I just found it tricky to get out of the box, get the stand screwed on and getting it up on the console by myself. It was surprisingly heavy.

Such pretty blooms near your place, Kim. Sorry to hear about your TV going the way of the dodo. Ours did that a couple of years ago, and we got a used 42 incher that works great. It DID seem big when we first set it up, though. :)
