This and That

I survived the 1.5 days of training, Monday and Tuesday. This was on the very cool new survey tool system our University has chosen.  Good news for me: The ITS person has removed my name and email from their survey web page and just listed our department and generic email address instead. Sure, it'll come to me anyway, but at least my name's not plastered all over their web page. * Our long Thanksgiving weekend is coming up, with Monday being the holiday. Yippee! I'll give quadruple thanks if the next door family packs up and goes to Toronto for the weekend, but I won't hold my breath. * Last night it was the mother who flipped out and had a screaming fit at the husband. I thought I heard her shouting at him not to threaten her--I've heard him threaten, quite calmly, to leave a few times before. I can guess it was something similar this time. Those two are going to implode one day. Or maybe explode. Or one of each. I hope they're long gone from our n...

Every Maternal Instinct on High Alert

Image
I popped into one of our PetValu stores this morning, just as they opened, for one of the brands of food for the boys. But every "maternal" instinct went on alert when I heard tiny, baby, precious, irresistible mews: I dropped all my shopping bags in front of the cash desk and made a bee-line for the back of the store. Did they have food? Were they sick? In distress for some reason? Desperate for love? I got to the cage....Purr, purr, purr, little paws begging me to love them. I just about melted into a gooey puddle on the floor. And discovered, from one of the staff members, that these sweet babies had just been put back in the cage and were desperate all right-- desperate to get out again .  :-p I'm sure these two little ones will sucker someone pretty quickly--they got me in two seconds, flat. I only hope they both find great forever homes.

Kitten Cuteness

There were four siblings up for adoption at one of our local PetValu stores. One already had been adopted, leaving these: The brown tabby, food motivated already and into everything (shades of Nicki). I couldn't get a pic of his/her face. This little grey girl, who was a wild thing:  Note her half-moustache.  :-) This sweet tuxie who fell asleep perilously close to someone's feet, right in front of the cash area: And this little grey tabby, who showed up as I was leaving. S/he reminds me of a small Derry: It was nice to see them all running around free, as the other PetValu keeps their adoptable adult cats and kittens in tiny cages at the very back of the store, no roaming. I think it's better for them to roam and interact with the visitors, as well as any other animals that come into the store. Makes for better socialization. You know, it's impossible to be in a crabby mood while watching kittens play. Well, unless they're in y...
