This and That

I survived the 1.5 days of training, Monday and Tuesday. This was on the very cool new survey tool system our University has chosen. 

• Good news for me: The ITS person has removed my name and email from their survey web page and just listed our department and generic email address instead. Sure, it'll come to me anyway, but at least my name's not plastered all over their web page.

Our long Thanksgiving weekend is coming up, with Monday being the holiday. Yippee! I'll give quadruple thanks if the next door family packs up and goes to Toronto for the weekend, but I won't hold my breath.

Last night it was the mother who flipped out and had a screaming fit at the husband. I thought I heard her shouting at him not to threaten her--I've heard him threaten, quite calmly, to leave a few times before. I can guess it was something similar this time. Those two are going to implode one day. Or maybe explode. Or one of each. I hope they're long gone from our neighbourhood before that happens.

At least some pretty good house repair news, albeit small: At some point in the next few months, I should have my patio door and adjacent living room window replaced. They're in bad shape--the frames especially--being the original ones. Now, the existing window doesn't open (stupid design/building), but for $80 plus HST, the repair company that will do it can give me a window that opens. (This is the same company that does most of the work in our complex. Of course I have to pay the extra approx. $100 out of pocket, but the rest is covered by our condo fees. And it's worth it to me to spend the $100 for a window that opens.

BTW, I asked the company co-owner (same guy who has been over a few times in recent months re: my leaky basement issue) how he could even see into my back space, since I have the fence and fence addition. (He had left a voice mail on my work # yesterday afternoon, I got it this AM.) He told me by standing on the utility box behind my fence and using binoculars. LOL. Yeah, that would work. Joe in his super-expensive Italian suit and shoes; I can picture it now.  :-)

So I'll see how long this takes--presumably no one is going to replace the door and window during the winter snow and ice. I'll make sure I'm home that day, though, to lock both Nicki and Derry up, safe and sound.

Lastly, two more cuties (of six in the store), waiting for adoption. Snapped at PetValu yesterday, on my way home (not the same PetValu location as the weekend). The first one had the sweetest little meow and purr. S/he and another sibling (?) on the upper platform were snoozing away, probably tired from running around and creating havoc.
