First Day of Spring in Ontario

Spring's super moon (and miscellany)

Today is the first day of Spring here in the northern hemisphere; officially it's at 5:58 PM EDT.   As it turned out, last Friday at lunch time I took a little walk down by the water and happened to spy these snowdrops (above) in bloom in a very sheltered, southern-facing spot. Yay! So I ended up seeing snowdrops on March 15, 2019, as well as on the same date in 2018. Then this morning I caught a slightly blurry snapshot of the super moon, as I was heading to the bus stop. I wish I'd had time for a better (clearer) shot, but whatever. If I remember correctly from last night's local TV weather report, this is the first time since 1981 that a super moon has coincided with the first day of spring. Lest you think our snow and ice is gone, though, here are a few more pics from Friday's walk. It was windy and FREEZING that day. Today's the first day I've been back to work. I picked up a nasty bug from somewhere and was sick all weekend, M...

Signs of Spring

On this first day of Spring 2016, here are a few recent signs: S nowdrops and crocuses from Thursday at lunch time   Geese, robin and red wing blackbird from Saturday.       I was so excited to finally see robins! I've been hearing them every morning and evening too but hadn't seen any until yesterday. Today has been quiet. I "popped out" to Home Depot and back (you can't "pop out" anywhere on public transit -- lol). I'm anticipating, not eagerly, the return of the "fleas" from March break. I figure they'll go out with a bang, so to speak...but at least they'll go out.  :-) As for the boys, they had great fun this morning when I opened up the sofa bed to see how difficult it would be to deconstruct (i.e. unscrew/unbolt the bed frame part to make it easier to get out of the house). They both seemed to think of it as a kitty jungle gym.     Other than that, the day has been uneventful for us all....

Apparently this is the first day of Spring

It must be; Dad sent me this sweet Jacquie Lawson e-card. He's getting his money's worth out of that site. :-) We had our private retirement dinner for a staff member, at our boss's house last night. Just our original group, I mean, not the merged group. My boss and his partner have a few pets, a 13-year old cat, Zeke: And two "rescued" dogs via Kijiji, Dexter the lab and Charlotte the...whatever. Now, someone who knows photography might be able to answer this: Do you see the funny circular light "blob" on the edge of the carpet, behind Dexter? I get these a lot with this little Canon Elph 520HS. I can't adjust the intensity of the flash, can only have it set to on/off/auto/slow-syncrho, even if in Program mode. I've been Googling but can't yet find anything to help me. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or have suggestions? My thanks if you do! P.S. I found a bit of info on Wikipedia, for what it's worth,...
