Signed, Sealed, Soon to be Delivered

The form for eligibility for jury duty. I hope my little stickers put a smile on the mail clerk's face, but s/he probably has so many to open every day that the stickers won't even be noticed. I ought to have bought the little skull and crossbones stickers, though. The flag could mean I'm eager. The cats...I was tempted to plaster the entire back of the envelope with cat stickers, but refrained. Who knew Canada had a "Sheriff's Office?" And who knew it was in Oshawa? (At least the one for Ontario.) When they get around to calling me for jury selection, I'm taking my chair cushion and electric heating pad. A box of facial tissue, cough drops and anything else I can think of to make myself seem unappealing/distracting as a juror. (Apologies to those of you who actually would be interested in serving on a jury. Feel free to take my place, citizenship notwithstanding.)   I saw cuter cats yesterday, on the way home from work, in my neigh...

But I don't WANT to be eligible for jury duty

Lucky me! I got the jury eligibility questionnaire in the mail today. It asks questions like whether I'm a Canadian citizen, if I'm over 18, if I have any physical or mental health conditions that would prevent me from serving, if my work prevents me from serving (certain professions) and whether I've been convicted of a criminal offense. No room to state that if I'm ever chosen and have to be sequestered, the lawyers better be paying for a cat sitter to the tune of $50 per day. Oh, and paying what would no doubt be another vet bill for Derry too. No room to express the many obnoxious opinions I have. Gosh, I'm so excited. Rebel that I am, I ignored the instructions to mark an "X" and put check marks instead. No doubt that will hasten my being called for selection--creative, free-thinker and all that. Woohoo. Something to look forward to.
