Happy Mother's Day!

Image
A very happy Mother's Day to all the "moms" out there, whether your "children" be two-legged or four. And a special happy Mother's Day to my own mom, who has faced many, many challenges in her life and overcome them all. A testament to her spirit...okay, and to that of wine too. LOL. A rare photo of Mom and I together, from June 2004. Ah, younger and much slimmer (me) days. Annie and Chumley still were alive and well, the boys years away from being born. How quickly the time passes! Sending universal Love and Light to all. Comments are off.

It used to be real wine

[Note: Feel free to skip this, since it's a run down on the service I went to today and isn't for everyone.] I went to a Presbyterian service this morning, my first. Wasn't sure I would go to any service (and how long am I going to church-troll anyway?), but it was conveniently located across from McDonald's (small coffee with double cream plus carrot muffin for $1.45). I had toyed with the idea of going there last weekend, but had skipped it. It's a lovely old church, with the congregation sitting in a half-circle. Similar to the first United church I went to several weeks ago.   All the women were giving little candles in honour of Mother's Day: As for the service itself, it was Communion, which apparently isn't given often. Now, I've not taken Communion in decades, but my experience then and even recently at the Anglican churches, is that you go up to the altar. In this instance the pieces of bread and rice crackers were passed around...

Wrapping up the week on a nice note

I'm wrapping up the work week by listening to jazz while the cats do their thing out in the back space. I feel positively mellow right now, and no , I've not had anything to drink. Actually, I felt like crap all week, attributed it to having a shot of rye every evening for several days in a row (alcohol being a depressant, of course), so went 5 days with nothing--and still didn't feel better. LOL. Oh well! I wasn't the only one not feeling great--my cubicle neighbour has been sick for a while now and one of my co-workers has been feeling "blah" too. Must be something going around.  In any case, I certainly felt cheerier today with the end of the work week. A "happy" for me: The mother next door mentioned in passing, this afternoon, that they're going away for the weekend. Yippee! The daughter currently is in Toronto for some reason (presumably at the grandparents' home), which is why it's been significantly quieter the p...

Big Breakfast!

This gull was in the middle of the street as I was walking to Kingston Centre on Friday morning. S/he was trying to carry off the rather large pizza crust but having difficulty!  No, I'm not going to take your breakfast away!  Second attempt to carry it off. BTW, a very happy Mother's Day to all the moms of humans and non-humans! (Image snagged from Pam's Flower Garden .) Have a wonder-full day, everyone. I wish you all the Blessings of Mother Earth and the Goddess.  :-)
