Musings on a Small Life

I thought I was just buying a little hand vac, but it appears that I was buying a kitty shark too.  :-)  "Pet Perfect?" He probably would say so. Now, if he'd actually use the hand vac to clean up after himself, then maybe I'd think he was "pet perfect" as well. I found this at Walmart early this morning, last one on the shelf. I love my full-sized (but very heavy) Shark vacuum, just wanted something easier to manage for quick pick-ups. I've already tried it out upstairs, on both carpet and bare floor, and it seems to work well. I've had a couple of different hand vacuums over the years, and not liked them (different brand and not cordless), so I hope this will do the job of picking up stray litter and cat hair in between regular vacuuming. I know that post title is a groaner, but I couldn't resist!  :-D I popped out to Bed, Bath and Beyond this morning, 20% coupon in hand, to check out the vacuums and a couple of other things. Came home with this baby; yes, a real Shark. Ha. Regular price $449, on sale for $379, plus 20% off the sale price. Got it for $303 plus tax. Most expensive/highest end vacuum I've ever owned; all mine tend to be in the $100 - $150 range (regular and/or sale price). Huge thanks to my mom, who gave me Christmas money, most of which went toward debt. It was nice to be able to use a bit of it for something I've wanted and that's also practical. So, some thoughts after the first use: 1. There are a LOT of attachments! I had to sit down with the manual and figure it all out, then refer back to the manual as I was vacuuming. I wasn't impressed yesterday when my cheap Eureka Maxima died shortly after I turned it on. Checked the belt, twice, just in case that was it, even though I recently had changed it. Nope. I can only assume the motor died, but hey, it was about $80 three of four years ago, so what can you expect? However, it remained a necessity to replace it ASAP, and oh, was I ever pissed off. Who has the savings for these kinds of things? I grumped the whole way to Canadian Tire this morning, really cranky about it, but on the up side I got the last one on the shelf, at store opening time of 8AM, btw , and got it for 50% off . I had checked out the on-line flyer and had seen it on sale. I also checked out the customer reviews, and they all were terrific, with the product scoring 4.6 out of 5.0.
