Welcome to your new home, Mr. Hoover

I wasn't impressed yesterday when my cheap Eureka Maxima died shortly after I turned it on. Checked the belt, twice, just in case that was it, even though I recently had changed it. Nope. I can only assume the motor died, but hey, it was about $80 three of four years ago, so what can you expect?

However, it remained a necessity to replace it ASAP, and oh, was I ever pissed off. Who has the savings for these kinds of things? I grumped the whole way to Canadian Tire this morning, really cranky about it, but on the up side I got the last one on the shelf, at store opening time of 8AM, btw, and got it for 50% off. I had checked out the on-line flyer and had seen it on sale. I also checked out the customer reviews, and they all were terrific, with the product scoring 4.6 out of 5.0.
So Mr. Hoover came home with me on the bus and has settled himself into his new home. Nicki, too, settled himself on the box in short order, claiming it for his own. I don't think he realized it was a new "sucky monster," though.  :-)

And after a grocery run that took longer than it should have, thanks to a no-show public transit bus, Mr. Hoover got a chance to show off his stuff.
I must say, for $99 plus tax (regularly $199), it was awesome--at least the first time used. It's heavier than the old Maxima, feels more substantial, even though it, too, is plastic. The height adjustment for bare floor actually works and doesn't just blow the dust bunnies around. It gets closer to the walls than the old one, it has a longer cord, and it's significantly quieter. It also pulled a heck of a lot of carpet fibre and cat hair out of the upstairs carpets! I'm pleased on first use, will see how it holds up. The warranty is for two years; I hope it, too, lasts at least three or four.

Alas, the box now is in the garage, too large to leave out for Nicki, in this small space.
So for anyone on a tight budget, not able to splurge on a high-end vacuum, I do recommend this one. At least for now.  :-)

Purrs from the boys and healing universal Light from me to Charlie of Ten Lives and Second Chances, who is recovering from the removal of all his teeth yesterday. I'm crossing my fingers this drastic measure takes care of his health problems!

What a score! I have a "thing" for vacuums, I always linger over them in the store.
Weird, huh?

This is funny! I just had the same, almost identical experience this very week! So, your Mr. Hoover's Doppelganger is living at my house! Great minds think alike! :)
We've got some kind of a wind tunnel vacuume thing...I don't remember it's maker. My son pushes it around. I have to smile, I'm sure if Nicki knew what was under him in the box, he may not have been so comfy - or, he was enjoying sitting on it while it was still captive :-) Just the same, he's so cute in the box. Cats and their boxes always amuse me.

Happy vacuuming :-)

Last year after dueling with a vacuum from sears we got a Dyson. It works like a champ and it is so lightweight that I don't mind vacuuming cat hairs all the time! Glad you got such a deal!!!!

Yikes! Can't imagine being without a vaccuum for long in a house full of cats. And isn't it fantastic how cats love boxes? We end up leaving delivery boxes out for days because the cats get so much enjoyment out of them. It's like: "Oh goody, another box for us!"

I would have never thought to look for a new suck monster at a tire store. Is that just a Canadian thing or have I been underestimating tire stores all my life?!

Oh, that was a good deal!! We got a Eureka at a pre-Black Friday sale last November.

I think Nicki was showing his dominance to Mr. Hoover before it does it's sucky air thing lol. He sure looks comfy in that box, too!!
I know they don't make things like they used to, but my Hoover upright is about 20 years old and still......nope, not going to say it. Hope yours lasts even half as long.
