Happy Boxing Day! We made it through the epic blizzard unscathed, except for a few power blips on the 24th and 25th, and a one-hour outage of our internet/cable/tv. We were extremely lucky, as power was off in numerous areas around us, even in our greater neighbourhood (i.e. not the complex itself). I hope anyone else reading this who went through the storm also remained unscathed and is okay! Below, a couple of snaps from the front bedroom window on Christmas Eve. We've had a lot of bad snowstorms in the 26.5 years I've been living here, but I think this was the worst in terms of duration and winds. Crazy.   Morning sky today, Sep 20th. Happy Friday, all. My gosh, what a long, long, long week. It's status quo with Nicki, as I wait for a different antibiotic to come in. The first two (variations/flavours of flagyl) were a no-go for him, so we'll try Clavamox compounded into a chicken flavoured liquid. I hope he'll ingest it and tolerate it better than he did the flagyl. Meanwhile, he's been "off" yesterday and today, threw up the bit of breakfast he ate yesterday morning, all over the large entryway mat. The mat with grooves/ridges to catch the dirt from shoes. The one that now needs to be replaced in spite of being scrubbed three times yesterday. His full blood work panel came back with perfect results, spot on, so I don't know what his problem is. I do know that I'm sick and tired of cat health issues. This definitely has been my worst spring, summer, and early fall for ongoing pet problems, vet bills, etc. I'm exhausted and frankly, enou...

I can hardly wrap my head around the fact that today is December 1st. Everyone I've talked to, of any adult age, has said this year in particular has just passed in a blur. I don't know where it went, but here we are, heading down the home stretch to the winter holidays, whatever you choose to celebrate. Happy, happy, I'm on (mostly) staycation now, till Tuesday the 10th. I'll be heading off to visit friends for a couple of days, but otherwise will be home, puttering around, just glad not to catch the 6:45 AM bus to the office. Keep your fingers crossed that all goes well with the pet sitter, I'll meet her for the first time Sunday at supper time. Anyway, continuing the recent trend of snapshot retrospectives, here's how our week looked: The two store cats at one of the PetValu locations last Sunday. I was stocking up on the boys' food for October. I never can remember their names, as the other PetValu location also has one or two store cats. There also was the "lovely" view early Sunday morning, waiting for the bus to the west end (Walmart run). The street is being widened, which is desperately needed, and off in the distance is where the construction for the overpass over the train tracks is underway. That's going to take several years...
