Monday Miscellany
My extra-long weekend has passed in a blur (yes, I did take today off as a vacation day). I seem to recall lots of running around on Saturday, lugging heavy bags until finally, after getting groceries, I had to take a taxi home, as it would have been physically impossible to carry everything on the bus. That's okay, though, a cab or two a month is far less expensive than owning a car! Saturday evening I went to a choral concert (Gospel music) at one of the churches I've been to recently. It was to support a women's shelter here in town. Being Gospel music, I was expecting an African-Canadian choir or at least a mixed one, but it was a fairly small group of white seniors. Now, they were good, don't misinterpret, and I enjoyed the old black spiritual hymns they sang, but somehow, when most white people sing Gospel, it seems to lack a certain...oh, heart or soul, I suppose.
