The view from the Big Apple
Colborne, Ontario, that is. I had gone to visit friends Robin and Chuck for a couple of days, got back yesterday evening. Robin and I went to the Big Apple (incredibly tacky web site) yesterday morning, mostly to see the farm animals at the petting zoo. She'd just been with another friend on the weekend, though later in the day when it was packed. We got there around 9 AM, before the hoards of people. (It's a huge tourist stop right off the #401, Canada's busiest highway.) They have lots of critters, feathered and furred. It must have been about 20 years since I was there, and then it was only a big red apple with a bakery and a little restaurant. Now it's a massive operation with an expanded bakery and restaurant, a sweet shop, a tacky souvenir shop, even their own cider making.
