Gloomy, Rainy Day Off
I'm off today, took Annie in for routine blood work this AM and I have the annual furnace cleaning this afternoon. I also booked Annie's dental (finally!) for February 10th. I'm opting not to do the DNA panel on her upper respiratory system, because I simply can't afford the additional $150. Besides, the DNA panel will only tell me if she has a virus and what kind, not if there is some sort of physical blockage/damage of her nasal passages. Apparently scoping cats is seldom done (and they don't do it at all at my clinic) because you need such a tiny scope. Oh, to explain, for those who aren't psychic, Annie's always had wheezing breathing, depending on the position in which she rests, but it's gotten worse over the years. Like she has a stuffy nose or something similar. I wanted to see if there was some sort of obstruction, not find out she has an upper respiratory infection. She gets Lysine for that. Sheesh. Anyway, I am hoping the dental will be straightforward....Back in September she had severe tartar on the back teeth and had gum disease. I can only imagine what her mouth is like now, five months later. (It will be 5 months in February.) I still hope she doesn't need any extraction$. And I feel so badly that I have to take her in AGAIN, for yet another terrible (to her) procedure. I've been waiting for her T4 to be regulated before booking the appointment, because hyper-t can cause heart problems which would be exacerbated under anaesthetic. So please cross your fingers all will be well. Poor Annie Bananie. They asked me today if I could hear her in the back, yeowling (I also had her armpits shaved again, for the meds). Truthfully I couldn't, I was chatting with someone who brought in his cat and also was chatting with the young woman who runs the doggie day care at the clinic. Guess I'm a bad "mum" for not paying attention. LOL.
Anyway, the furnace guy will be here sometime between 1 and 3PM, supposedly. I won't hold my breath, as usually they run late. But I can't go anywhere...Mind you, it's been pouring rain since the night, not a nice day to be out. Looks like it's easing up a bit now, though, and we're due for a bit of snow tomorrow. Sigh. I just want Spring.
Oh, by the way, my cousin is doing well, the drains have been removed. There is some swelling now that those drains are out, and she's adjusting to that. But things are going as well as can be expected and she's been able to send out a couple of quick email updates. Fingers crossed for the test results.
So I'll leave you with a couple of quick snapshots of my tiny, very soggy back space. At least most of the snow is gone now!
