Annie + Clavamox = Miserable

Annie was okay for the first five doses but after yesterday's supper time one, she was off her food and hanging out in the basement. Ditto this morning. She's only come up now for a few licks of some "broth" leftover in Nicki's dish, nothing solid (it's 9:40AM on Sunday).

Dr. Ross had said to stop the antibiotics if she went off her food, so I'm not going to give her the PM dose or tomorrow's either, will call the clinic first thing when they open.

I'm not sure where we go from here, because if all antibiotics are going to put her off her food, she's going to be in serious trouble.

*Sigh*

Time for a bit of dark chocolate. Just one teeny piece. And I don't care that it's not 9:45AM yet!

Then...a cup of tea. The answer to all ills, right?

I sure hope there's an alternative antibiotic. Poor Annie, poor you. At least she still has her looks...heh heh! Johnny is doing great on the 2-week shot, no side effects. I have heard Pepcid or zantac can help upset tummy, I wonder if it comes in a liquid form (pediatric?).
Really, you should have scones for breakfast...I made some last week with CHUNKS of chopped dark chocolate and walnuts. They were EXTREMELY theraputic. In fact, I need to bake some more therapy...

Oh sweet Annie!!!! I hope she continues to fight this infection!! Maybe she's just a little off for now and may perk up soon. I hope so!! Have a big chunk of chocolate please!! And big hugs for lovely and amazing Annie!!!

Poor Annie! I'm so sorry she is not doing well. Hopefully the Dr can find another solution.

Oh dear Annie.
We hope that there is a good substitue for the antibiotic she is on. It sounds like she has an upset tummy. Poor dear. We will keep both of you in ours purrs.

We will continue our purrs for Annie. We have had good success with the 2-week Covenia shot. Maybe that could help Annie.

Oh poor Annie... Yeah, our Bugsy had a hard time with Clavamox too - now it is on our "never again" list. He took his first dose on October 10th for an UTI, and ever since he has had a diarrhea - it's been over 90 days! There was another poster who said something about Convenia... I hear good things about it too, to be used instead of Clav.

Some antibiotics do have a negative effect on appetite, so we hope that your vet will be able to find a suitable alternative.
